Somehow Patrick from TAL Software managed to get all of his stuff running on M1 and was able to build a universal binary for every product. All that while building a new product. Pretty clear that this is not a major undertaking to do even for a small developer with limited resources. And again Richard already said he'd do it. So honestly don't know wtf you and AnX are on about over this.Teksonik wrote: Tue Feb 02, 2021 12:34 am Well I hope you get what you want but keep in mind Synapse is a small developer with limited resources. Because most of us can see the need for a proper preset browser, your request is a little less obvious.Ghost Dog wrote: Mon Feb 01, 2021 8:15 amHow exactly is my request for adding more ADSR envelopes any different than the usual request for a new (proper) preset browser (made by others and, IIRC, you as well) - in terms of relevance?
Actually, having two hardwired ADSR envelopes on the front panel was something of a novelty when DUNE came out and it made it a lot easier to use than competitors like z3ta+, which stacked all it's envelopes in tabs, like the MSEGs in DUNE. But the MSEGs are there and it's a doddle to set them up to do ADSR. That means six ADSRs if you want/need them, not two.Having a proper preset browser has been a standard in VST plugins for a looong time, but so is having more than two ADSR envelopes (when it comes to synths).
Mine's not a request, as such, I haven't used DUNE in a couple of years now. It's more of an explanation as to why I haven't used it such a long time, which sort of validates it to a greater extent, given that I assume you still use DUNE.None of us really "needs" a better preset browser or more ADSR envelopes (the way we need air, water, food, shelter and such), but I really can't see how my request is sillier than yours.
I've always considered that a strength of Synapse Audio - someone with a clear vision who has the confidence that if he does it properly, it will be good. It's only since he's gone chasing a market that I've lost interest in Synapse's work.Nah, Rich doesn't give a flying f**k about my requests (and, as far as I can see, about the 90+% of requests made by other users as well).

The least comprehensible thing to me is why you are still somehow connected with them. I'd have binned your input years ago as you always seem so negative about everything connected with SA. And if I were you I'd have stepped away from them regardless, as you don't like or use their current products.

DUNE's sound quality is without peer. It is literally the best sounding synth I have ever heard. It's very hard to walk away from that and Rich and I are still friends. After all, we've known each other for more than 20 years.

Simple for you since you don't have to do the work.fisherKing wrote: Tue Feb 02, 2021 1:02 am pretty simple, really; make one install for the intel code and the M1 code, as every other developer has done so far (well, everyone that has in fact created M1 code).
Except that Macs are much higher maintenance for plugin developers. And I can say that with some confidence having observed the forums both public and private.fisherKing wrote: Tue Feb 02, 2021 1:02 amusing a mac is like using a PC; it's a computer, runs software. we plug in a keyboard (or whatever) & make music. it's 2021, ridiculous to still be doing that 'mac vs pc' thing; both have their strengths and weaknesses. and who cares? use what you want. that part, at least, is simple enough.
I don't care if someone uses a Mac. If they want to pay more for less computer then more power to them.
But once again good luck I hope you guys get want you want. Just as I hope everybody else gets what they want both Mac and Win users.

Sure he is....asking for another installer so he can use an updated plugin in a DAW that hasn't been updated.rezoneight wrote: Tue Feb 02, 2021 1:56 am He's actually not asking them for "yet another Mac version", they already have both versions and Synapse said like a page ago they'd build a universal binary for anyone if they ask but would consider it unsupported at the moment. Fair enough.
Richard also said this....rezoneight wrote: Tue Feb 02, 2021 2:02 am And again Richard already said he'd do it. So honestly don't know wtf you and AnX are on about over this.
So what I'm "on about" is the request for Universal Binary is no more important than other people's request for a different GUI in OBsession for example and so on.Richard_Synapse wrote: Mon Feb 01, 2021 8:57 am We understand everybody wants their wishes implemented. Realistically though, we cannot implement every single wish out there. Some, perhaps even most wishes take weeks or months to implement, if we tried to we would never be able to release anything. Also while some wishes make sense on the surface, looking into it deeper reveals other issues or conflicts the user did not have on the radar (and sometimes cannot have on the radar, not being able to see the codebase).

i wish i understood what you're on about, or why it's so important to you. seems like mac-envy to me; unless, of course, a consortium of PC manufacturers and microsoft got together and hired you to protect their brand? otherwise... breathe. none of this is that important.Teksonik wrote: Tue Feb 02, 2021 3:41 pmSimple for you since you don't have to do the work.fisherKing wrote: Tue Feb 02, 2021 1:02 am pretty simple, really; make one install for the intel code and the M1 code, as every other developer has done so far (well, everyone that has in fact created M1 code).![]()

Why is UB important to you ? Because you are a Mac user. It's not important to me since I'm a Windows user. I see people asking for features that affect both Mac and Windows users so to me it's just a matter of priority.
But like I've said several times I hope you get what you want just as I hope everyone else gets what they want. We'll see what the future holds.
Yes I'm envious of people who spent a lot more and got a lot less.
I'm just messing with you. In reality we should all be using Linux and extending a collective middle finger to both Apple and Microsoft. Hopefully in time Linux support among developers will grow to the point that it will be the only logical choice for music producers.
EDIT: I see Apple auto links and Microsoft does not. It's conspiracy I tell you....

if it's not important, or relevant to you, why discuss it? if a plugin had an issue on windows, why would i, a macuser, point out that a fix is not necessary?Teksonik wrote: Tue Feb 02, 2021 4:57 pmWhy is UB important to you ? again, i don't get your point, at all. but you're entitled to rant just as much as the next person (that could be me)

C'mon you know why. This guy thinks he's always right and can't stand to think he might be wrong about something. We've got the big three of this right here in the thread. AnX takes it up a notch by stalking and bullying certain people here. It feels like USENET in the 90s/early 2000s. Why else would someone spend so much effort to discuss something they're not even using nor understand? If you're not compensating then you're just a f00king troll which is even worse. At any rate I tossed the three of em on ignore. Cleaned things up nicely.fisherKing wrote: Tue Feb 02, 2021 5:22 pm if it's not important, or relevant to you, why discuss it? if a plugin had an issue on windows, why would i, a macuser, point out that a fix is not necessary?
