No macros yet , but the included sequencers and a minor effort to learn the basics ,architect crushes every plugin that has been listed in this thread.
In the meantime you can use the aux lane in the sequencers to draw your lfo’s etc ..
It’s unrivalled !

Thanks - good to know. I am too busy to roll my own at this point, but will almost certainly be picking Architect up during the intro/beta period.gentleclockdivider wrote: Wed Feb 03, 2021 12:47 am No macros yet , but the included sequencers and a minor effort to learn the basics ,architect crushes every plugin that has been listed in this thread.

Cthulhu is my favorite. I also very much like The "mind control" script from orange tree samples. I've found that Plogue bidule can be made to do amazing things to midi as well. I like to use it to randomize up midi inputs while stacking very similar sounds.
Don't F**K with Mr. Zero.

"Hoarding" is the correct word, for me anyway.gentleclockdivider wrote: Wed Feb 03, 2021 12:16 amYou guys just keep hoarding plugins insearch of the holy grailKalamata Kid wrote: Sun Jan 31, 2021 6:42 pm ^^^
j0lt,
Thanks for the detailed reply.
Live suite and Max are a bit expensive.
Every time I see a new midi device released for M4L I get excited and wish I had LIve.
Took stock of what I have or might get:
I do have many midi VSTi fx plugins and such but the thirst for more continues.
Architect
Reaktor
Reason Players
Kontakt
Bidule
Midi Lab
Studio One has some
But gotta say M4L has many good/great midi devices.
Some with two or more midi FX

As been said numerous times , Loomer architect is at the top of the list , much easier to use compared to the max language , and it has great modules and fantastic sequencers from the get go , can run standalone and as a vst plugin , and most importantly 'Rock solid timing'
But please , keep searching ...![]()
Last year I stated that I will not buy any more midi plugins until I can see the the presets and patches for Architect. Well, some of the midi plugins were offered at discounts and with no Architect presets and patches in sight and having my GAS being in overdrive I bought. I will see if I will have any regrets.
Same as bharris22 I prefer to work with presets and perhaps later roll my own.
I do wonder what the advantages are running Architect as a standalone.

Hi, it is indeed possible that there will be a pure VST3/AU version of Stepic in the future. However, this involves more effort than it may seem at first. The internal processing is designed to work seamlessly with Stepic's M4L component. This will have to be completely refactored. However, large parts of the general program logic and UI could be reused - which is kind of sexyj0lt wrote: Sun Jan 31, 2021 1:49 pm Interestingly Stepic uses a VST3 plugin with the M4L device so maybe a VST version is in the future. From what I understand VST3 and MIDI is kind of a mess which might be why they're using M4L with it.
The Stepic VST (Win 10) doesn't load for me so no fun with it yet.
Modulations would then be completely based on MIDI CC.

Hi Tom,ThomasHelzle wrote: Tue Jan 26, 2021 11:08 pm Yeah, Phrase.box 1.2 is now officially my favourite Midi tool.
Adam is so responsive and doing a great job with improving the plugin. While initially PB was more aimed at generating phrases that then would mostly playback as they were, with the the new options in 1.2 you can make things change over time subtly or radically depending on a chance setting for the randomness.
I can't recommend this enough.
Combines perfectly with Scal.er 2...
Good times!
Cheers,
Tom
I downloaded the demo and spent some time with it. I'm curious what makes it your favorite MIDI plugin now? Is it mainly the ability to change randomness over time. I feel I must be missing something. I'm seriously considering getting it and been comparing it to xynthesizer (iPad) and Cracklefield (Kontakt) and Homegrown Sounds Arp Stream and MIDI Looper (Kontakt). I do love the idea of Phrasebox evolving endlessly and maybe getting chaotic and then coming back to melodic.
many thanks,
Greg

I just remembered that the Reason Rack Plugin has midi out. After watching this video again, and remembering that I also have the Delta Midi Computer Rack Extension (along with the Players and a wide variety of CV randomization and generation tools), this setup could keep me busy for years:

In standalone mode it comes as close as it gets to the hardware feel , it's lighning fast , no bloat etc..Kalamata Kid wrote: Wed Feb 03, 2021 3:44 am

I made a complete environment within architect where i can trigger patterns , transpose , add randomness etc..everything can be recorded to an audio or midi pool
Just don't excpect to edit audio files

It simply does something I like in a clear, scalable interfacekillmaster wrote: Wed Feb 03, 2021 1:26 pm I downloaded the demo and spent some time with it. Scaler 2.2 is very nice and has got great ways of playing chords in interesting patterns, but it's static in nature, the patterns are simply repeated.
But when followed with Phrasebox (in that case I usually set Scaler to play full chords), not only can you create your own patterns for how the chords are played, but especially now with version 1.2 you can have it vary over time, so it never repeats exactly the same.
I like the way you can access the different notes in the chord in different ways in a pattern, that you can size and move the notes freely (holding Shift), something for instance Riffer can't do AFAIK, and now have all those realtime ranges + probability ("chance") .
Some generators have random abilities, but only combined with chance I personally like it, so that you can say: vary Velocity between 64 and 120 with a probability of 80%, transpose notes up to 3 half tones up or down with a probability of 20% (while keeping them in a certain scale) and jump 1 octave up or down with a probability of 11%. Then have the note chance set to 80-90% on most notes, so that some aren't played at all sometimes...
That to my ears is a very musical way of working generatively.
Our senses love to recognise patterns and repetitions, but they also detect exact copies in a loop quickly and get instantly bored or irritated, it feels unnatural.
If that is something you also like and are interested in I can't know, but for me the scaler/phrasebox combination is very satisfying, I often have the patterns play in the background here for myself with something like a nice vibraphone sound from Vital for instance...
That I like it so much also has to do with many of the new realtime features and some GUI and workflow options being requests I made of Adam - which he was happy to implement with more to come...
I could do a lot of those things with my Midi Wrangler, but having them inside of Phrasebox is not only more convenient, but also more powerful, since it's for instance possible to have chance for notes only on certain notes and not on others.
Cheers,
Tom

Thanks Tom. Going to set the demo up and try and do what you've outlined here to get a feel for it. Much appreciated!
