Have not recieved email, just checked
Saying that my memory is a bit sketchy at the best of times :D
Man is least himself when he talks in the first person. Give him a mask, and he'll show you his true face

Thanks. I saw it said you'll receive an email with a download link, but i didn't see the big button above which says "Free Download".

If you're having issues with crackling, try digging around in your VST host options for a parameter along the lines of "fixed blocksize" and make sure that's enabled. Different hosts/DAWs word it differently and some might not even offer the option.

The built-in delay is really weird, sounds like there's a single echo hard-left, with all subsequent echoes in the right channel. So like a ping-pong that stops ping-ponging after the first go-round.

Challenge title updated to "One Ping Challenge."
Doing nothing is only fun when you have something you are supposed to do.

Hey all, it's another month again, wow...
I had to laugh, because a single button synth with ~100 Mb download is just hilarious to me!
That's one BIG button!
(ok, ok, the single VST is 26Mb...which still is like: Pfffff, dang!)

Anyway... let's see what this one does! :hyper: :scared:

(64bit win)
MuLAB as DAW, I can set a block size, but see no "fix" toggle?!
Therefore, YUP, plenty of CRACKLES here, too! :uhuhuh:
So the blocksize issue screws the left output? ...I don't think that's "ok", haha... :ud:

(MME drivers)
Left side (broken) not only crackles, but signal is diminished. Right side works fine.

(ASIO drivers)
Totally wrecked with crackles, still mildly favors Right, but now stereo crackles! :hihi:

So, I'd actually suggest a close look at the processing logic again.
(Your fresh beta-tester catch!) :tu:

It's the weirdest thing - it crashes i.e. when I switch to Chrome and scroll down a web page. Never happened to me before. I have a feeling that adjusting sample rate and resolution to the requirements of this software's fickle mind will fix it, but there are definitely some stability issues here. (I'm on Win10, i9-10900X, 64-bit, Focusrite 18i20 2nd gen.)

On the other hand, I'm 26 instances in, and it hardly registers on my CPU monitor. And it's pretty stable as long as I stay in the DAW window.

And no crackles yet here, touch wood!

ELEX wrote: Tue Feb 02, 2021 3:27 pm No crackles here ( yet ? ) in REAPER ( 6.21, 64b, win 7 ). Always some stereo effect, though, even with the width-knob at minimum. Often leaning to the right in a not too pleasant manner.
Edit: OK, so there is no need for external plugin on Reaper if you just want mono signal. Just right click pan, change pan law to stereo pan and set width to zero. But if you need to balance stereo, probably gonna need to fiddle with DAW settings more :D
I'm working in Reaper too, and I tried this but then you can't pan that signal to the right - only left.
How can I work in mono and pan to the right? Any ideas?

Use a mono-izer! Someone already mentioned bx-solo, which is free, but you need a Plugin Alliance account for.

Auburn Sounds Panagement will do the mono-izing thing too if you turn the width all the way down, then you can pan in the DAW. Works in Cakewalk for me, haven't had chance to try it in Reaper.

In Cakewalk you've also got the option to interleave - mono, which may be the solution I'll go for.

@The B00:That's strange. You should not need ext. plugins to pan a zero width signal. Width comes before pan in REAPER, so you should be able to pan to either side. Just checked and it works as expected here. Seems there's something else going on in your case.

Setting a blocksize will result in a fixed blocksize.

"Fixed" in this case means "not variable", as opposed to "not broken".

As far as which blocksize to use, I recommend experimenting to see which one works best.

Luckily I am not having the left side crackling issues. I have had a couple of crashes but it’s not a major issue so far.

Some observations about the synth itself:
The envelopes are not my favorite. They have a weird range and it’s kind of hard to find the sweet spot most of the time. Also the lack of envelope amount makes it tricky to dial things in.
Same with the filter LFO. Since there is no amount control, it is always at max and depending on how you have your filter set it can go to extremes that aren’t all that useful.
That said if you keep it simple, you can get some nice sounds out of this thing. I particularly like the detune and stereo widening functions. They are actually fairly subtle for these kinds of effects and I like that about them.

Agreed, it's hard to do gentle movements. I like the stereo tool, as well - but man, I've never needed so many panning/narrowing tools on individual instruments - with or without widening - to tame the overall stereo field. It's easy enough to get in trouble!

Is there a manual somewhere for this strange beast???

Not had much/many crackling problems with Reaper ... some seem to be linked to the resonance of the filter. But then, I am only just playing with it so far, and not thought about a track yet.

I might just go down the random jazz route for this one :D If nobody minds

Push butan, receive random. What are these "envelopes" and "filters" people speak of? :hihi:
