listening to john maus' touchdown today, couldn't help but wonder what an extended dub would sound like. I definitely think there is potential there for something electro/disco influenced and to stretch out some ideas to 5 plus minutes.

that's cool, but a bit more synth pop than i was thinking or could even manage
did like the synth doing the grungy guitar riff!

I composed a techno "remix"/version of Black - Wonderful Life in my mind some years back.
And there was a hard house / techno "remix"/version of a Christmas song to which i've never discovered the title of, again in my mind. Thanks, you've reminded me of the hook! This one requires sampling of the hook from the original song, but apart from the hook it's a new song.
What else, a "remix" of a Kraftwerk song, in my mind. I'm sure it's Kraftwerk but i don't know which song it is. This one i heard it on an arcade machine at the seaside.
A "remix" of The Proclaimers - 500 Miles, in my mind, when i was doing a very long walk.
But my choice for which to remix is the Grease soundtrack please. I'll do it in a techno/progressive style.
