Okay I installed it. Everyone is right, this sounds hyper clean and clear. Very digital sounding but in the best way. Nice!

I have chosen an empty soundbank, played round with the randomn button till I found something useful, then I went to "file">"save patch">, then the opening file browser leads me to my "documents" folder but there is no Tone2/Warlock there. In the VST 64 folder, where Icarus has its presets, there is no Warlock folder too. Any idea where/if the Warlock preset folder with the banks is or any other method to save that patch ?
When go to File you press Save and you should be able to choose you destination, where to save the preset or bank like desktop or other, what you describe is unusual.
Will save fxp as preset or t2b as bank wherever you want.
Cheers :)

Thanks Velltone for the info but I wonder if this way it will be saved with the soundbank and will be available next time I open Warlock ? Or will I have to open it again with file>load which would be really cumbersome.

so it doesn't have the same browser as the other T2 synths?

No, its the old Spire/Firebird way: list of soundbanks, each with the 128 presets, thats it, no favourites, no tagging.

Q: Is there still no manual?
A: I am currently working on it. It should be available next week. You will be able to access it with the HELP button.

Q: What does ‘Tune x6’ mean?
A: Is is 6 times the frequency than the basic tuning. It is useful in combination with Ring-modulation or for building stacked sounds.

Q: What is the difference between the ‘early access’ version und the upcoming release version?
A: The marketing is still missing. There will also still be minor fixes like fixing some typos.

Q: The volume of a few patches is too loud
I already addressed and fixed the issue for the next version. You can easily fix it for yourself by turning the ‘VOLUME’ knob down.

Q: Can I use the ‘early access’ version for production?
A: Yes. There will be no changes that will break your projects, where the sound changes or compatibility breaks.

Q: Is the ‘early access’ version stable?
A: Yes. The current PC version is very stable. We have not received crash reports so far.

Hi Markus,

could you please say something about the preset saving ? I am still a little puzzled if saving anywhere in the file system will save it in the soundbank or if I have to load evrytime new.

Post

There will be info about it in the manual.

- A patch is a fxp file
- A bank (t2b file) consist of 128 patches
- All patches that come with Warlock are built-in within the vst3/dll file. They are no separate files on the hdd
- By pressing SHIFT in the fxp file load dialog it is possible to load several fxp files at once. This way you can easily assemble your own soundbanks.
- I have noted your requests and will add a feature where you can automatically load a custom soundbank on startup. It will be available in the next version

Thanks for explanation, think I got it now :)

About loudness i'm always trying to avoid digital distortion, that's why my stuff are not loud at all, there is nothing more useless than digitally distorted presets this way.
Basic rule of mixing is start with less volume, countless newbies mixes have this issue.
Cheers :)

Will it have its own save/load dialogue, as a VST3 loaded into a host would normally be saving .vstpreset, not .fxp files?

(Also I wonder if that could be a problem Bitwig's browser as it will not associate fxp files with the VST3 version so they may be invisible in the browser)

Probably like in the other Tone2 synths? Right click on a control.

Post

Right Click does not open a Midi Learn dialog.

Still I'm happy with Warlock for the price. It has already found a place in a couple of projects and will no doubt get used frequently here.

What is the purpose of the 6 "Empty Soundbank" Slots ? I don't see a way to save patches in there.

I simply created a Warlock folder in Documents and have placed my custom patches and bank in there so that works fine. The ability to have that bank load on startup will be welcome.

I'm wondering how third party preset banks will be handled as I'm sure we'll see some released.

If we can't add banks to the drop down list it will require manually loading banks each time. Again not a big deal to me but I see people complaining about the patch management in other plugins and fear they'll have the same complaints with Warlock.
