This is a discussion about Polymode, not the oscillator sync of a different synth which I never made a claim about. I'm also not claiming that Polymode doesn't have aliasing, as I haven't even downloaded it yet (although it's paid for).
Anyone making the claim that aliasing is a problem in Polymode, feel free to post examples of the aliasing. I'm interested in hearing examples both solo and in a mix to see if it's really an issue as claimed. Doesn't sound like anyone who's complaining about Polymode is capable of doing that though, instead they want to argue on the internet.

I like some of the sounds, but to me, the Vox Humana preset isn't particularly authentic sounding. it's ok in the mid & high registers but no where near in the lows. Haven't got into trying to program sounds yet. Considering that's the sound everyone associates with a Polymoog I was hoping for something a bit better. The Xils lab one is a lot better in that regard.

I think a sub-discussion here about aliasing would interesting. For those who aliasing is an issue, what do you think the net effect of using aliasing synths in a mix (not just the patchs, but the effect on a whole mix) would be in terms of the overall sonic character of the mix? Just curious what you thinknor know from experience. I know what aliasing sounds like, I am asking what it would sound like in a mix that uses a few synths that alias.

I'm not the expert here, so correct me if I'm wrong... but it depends on the preset(s) you're using. Most of CA2600 sounds OK, but you just wouldn't want to use a sound like the "Pitch modulating a synced saw" in the audio clip gentleclockdivider posted. That would just sound awful by itself or in a mix - nothing subtle about it. Anyone who thinks gentleclockdivider is talking about some picky audiophile edge case just needs to listen to that example. And I stumbled upon that issue when I first played CA2600 - I just didn't know enough to even call it "aliasing".plexuss wrote: Thu Feb 04, 2021 4:36 pm I think a sub-discussion here about aliasing would interesting. Speaking of presets, I think the Polymode presets are fabulous - many thanks to everyone that contributed to those - lots of inspiring fun!

Agreed! This polywhatsit actually got me EXCITED about soft synths again. I mean, I am fine with softsynths, but they weren't blowing my kilt up really. Just useable. Now, I look forward to getting off work, firing it up and just screwing around with it.
Never knew anything about the original Polymoog (except CARS) a couple presets, a couple controls, way to limited to interest me, old and boring. But, this software version captures an age I missed out on, and seems so alive and real to me. Big fan of Solina Strings and that stuff though.

Talk of aliasing not a problem, being a dick about it on multiple websites is the problem.

Maybe it has something to do with communication.Reefius wrote: Fri Feb 05, 2021 12:37 pm To be honest, it starts to look a lot like stalking the developer.
If the developer would communicate more actively in these discussions, like a lot of other developers do, then they could exchange their thoughts. Now it's so silent from their side on this particular subject. Perhaps they've told something somewhere, but i didn't see it.
It's all unnecessary really. People have different standpoints, but they all want a good plugin, right? It's everybody's right to speak out. You cannot expect to start a topic and everybody saying "everything about this plugin is top class". KVR and other sites are not just for promoting your product, but also to have a discussion about it. Acknowlegde and communicate that not everything will be top class and priorities lie elsewhere and perhaps that would end the discussion. Of course, open bugs as in CA2600, that's another thing.

No, BEING A DICK on any of the websites is the problem. I read the same complaints in the same "tone" both here and on Gearslutz. They were not just "suggestions to improve a brand's plugins". They were rude. I suspect one of the reasons the developer gave him the cold shoulder was because of the attitude. I'd give him the finger too if I were them.Dark Fiber wrote: Fri Feb 05, 2021 8:21 amOne can only make suggestions to improve a brand's plugins on one website?rezoneight wrote: Thu Feb 04, 2021 7:26 pm Talk of aliasing not a problem, being a dick about it on multiple websites is the problem.![]()

I would like to chime in and say that we are guests here on KVR, and as such we don't believe that it would be responsible of us to encourage the hijacking of threads, or to reward rude behavior towards our customers.
For the record, there have been several bits of misinformation in this thread, so just to clarify:
1) The Cherry Audio plug-ins do not share a sound engine with Voltage Modular, and do not use Java in any way. They are all built with high-performance C++.
2) I am the CTO of Cherry Audio and the lead developer of our plug-ins, so, yes, you're speaking directly to the development team here on these forums. I've done multiple live streams with KVR and plenty of interviews.
3) I'm proud to say that we interact directly with customers on multiple forums here on KVR, Gearslutz, Cherry Audio's forums, Facebook, YouTube, Instagram, and of course via our multiple direct support channels. In fact, I believe we have the best support in the industry. Personally, I've interacted with customers on these forums and others since Cherry Audio's first product was released in 2018.
4) We have a history of very quickly fixing bugs, constantly improving our products, and constantly innovating with new products. Our QA department works full-time testing our products on every imaginable platform and in every possible DAW. Version history for all of our products is available via a link on all of our download pages. For example, DCO-106, our first synth plug-in, was released October 1st, 2020, and all of its release history is available here: https://cherryaudio.com/instruments/dco ... on-history. In fact, we have updates to DCO-106, Surrealistic MG-1 Plus, CA2600, and Voltage Modular, which are due to be released as early as next week once our QA process is complete, and we have some amazing new modules for Voltage Modular due out soon that I'm very eager for everyone to see.
We appreciate everyone that tries our products, offers feedback (both positive and negative), and offers suggestions for future products. I can tell you that we are flooded with requests for recreations of certain synths, and I promise you all, these do not go unheeded. We have some amazing products under development and our goal is to continue to surprise everyone with incredibly high-quality products for unbelievably low prices.
Thanks!

Hi cherry dan
Could you please have a look at the aliasing issues when using osc sync on both ca 2600 and voltage modular.
It’s great that you firmly believe you offer the best support in the industry but this bug has been reported numerous times and not one official reply from the developer .
Also another question , why was ca 2600 original sample rate of48 khz the same as voltage modular ?
