Hi,

First outing using VSTi's in RC (standalone) ...

a) RC crashes on a wide-scope scan of my VSTs. I narrowed the scope to get past that.

b) With a VSTi on a track and the MIDI set up to feed it, I can play the VSTi live, or if I have phrases (MIDI) on the track then they will play the VSTi.

I notice though (in standalone RC) that if I mute the track, any phrases therin are muted but the live feed is not.

Perhaps (at least for standalone RC) we could have an option for track muting to apply to the track's live signal as well as to track content.

Yes, for pasting phrases the keyboard focus should be the workspace. Ctrl-C and Ctrl-V means copying/pasting 'time' if the timeline is in keyboard focus. That is why a blue rectangle is displayed around the keyboard focus area from v4.0. You can turn it off if you assign a transparent color to "Keyboard Focus Rectangle" as lulukom did ;)

I managed to fix the phrase inspector issues with edited phrase generators. From now such phrases will be displayed with an "Edited" label:

Thank you!
sj1 wrote: Fri Feb 05, 2021 11:42 amI notice I can drag in a single folder containing .mid files perfectly, but dragging in 2 or more selected folders does not work.
Hm, I found dropping multiple folders worked well here on Windows10 and macOS.
sj1 wrote: Fri Feb 05, 2021 11:42 amAs I, and others, can and will have large MIDI file sets (of songs or chord progressions) that are organized in hierarchical folder trees, it would be ideal if the midi drag and drop to the progression browser could handle importing such libraries directly with a single drag.
Folders are parsed hierarchically, so this also works (I have just tried with embedded folders).
The only thing to be careful with is you cannot cancel conversion of hierarchical folders, so please think twice before you drop a whole drive...

Thanks,
Attila

RapidComposer v4.1b10 is available!

Improvements:
  • File name is displayed with the "Composition saved" message
  • Setting the chord octave and bass note is possible in the master track inspector
  • Fixed: ghost copies did not inherit resized length ("Repeat until the end of ..." bug)
  • Fixed problems in the phrase inspector with edited phrase generators
  • "Edited" label is displayed in the phrase inspector preview, when the phrase generator has user-edited notes
  • Other fixes

Too late! Not a whole drive, but a very big tree. Been crunching for a couple of hours now. I'll mention how it turns out.

So, FWIW, I think announcing the folders as they are being processed and allowing the process to be interrupted (and resumed?) might be a nice-to-have at a future point.

Attila, you promised to add the ability to collect scales for only one selected chord in the master track))

I was looking forward to you fixing the edit note bug but the problem is still there, after you edit the notes and apply change and then save it inside the generator it just goes back to the original unedited version, even tho is says edited before you save ,

all I want to do is edit a generated phrase and then save it back as a generator.

Hope you can fix

I am not seeing this problem. When I edit the phrase now, it shows the edit in the phrase inspector correctly.

If you make any changes to the phrase in the inspector itself, it does revert, for example, changing the notes to use, or add a bass note. But, if you click the pencil icon, it goes into the phrase editor and those changes stay.

Any chance you can make a video?

Will you describe the steps to reproduce this? It works well on my setup.

Maybe there is a misunderstanding. Please note if you change any generator parameters, the edited notes get lost, and again the generated notes are displayed without the "Edited" label.
It is not possible to leave the edited notes while generating other parts of the phrase. This will be possible only with the 'canvas' track with destructive editing in a next version.

Ouch! I am sorry about that. Loading each MIDI file and analyzing chords may take long... :(

I don't remember I promised that :? , but I improved the scale list, which displays the chord on the new scale, and Ctrl-click on a scale will set the scale for the selected chord (when there is one selected chord):

Hi.
I might have misunderstood this but are we saying it is now possible to drag a folder of midi files onto the chord track and RC will import the entire contents and analyse the midi files? I tried this and always get the response "The requested midi file cannot be opened". I can highlight a bunch of files and drag them but not a folder.

RC 4.10b, Windows 10.
Regards. Mike.

Hi Mike,

You can drag a single MIDI file on the chord track.
You can drag multiple MIDI files and folders (that are scanned hierarchically) on the chord progression browser to save the chord progressions in the files.
You can drag multiple MIDI files and folders and drop them on the phrase or rhythm browsers. The MIDI files are converted to phrases/rhythm patterns. This is useful if you have short MIDI files that you want to use as phrases.

Thanks,
Attila
