No, not at all. Unfortunately it only appeared once, so it didn't get an extra mention.doctorbob wrote: Sat Feb 06, 2021 1:45 pm @tj Are you lumping my Yamaha DX-11 in with the DX7's ???

Thanks to Elex, who took some time to listen to 2 of my not-OSC songs, when i raised a query over Elex's comment about my OSC song.

I will mention it, ty ELEX, it's nice to see this spirit alive and well in newer members...
The highest form of knowledge is empathy, for it requires us to suspend our egos and live in another's world. It requires profound, purpose‐larger‐than‐the‐self kind of understanding.

Voted! There are a lot of tracks I liked this month. I hope there will be other challenges like that as I finally just received my hydrasynth an I need to justify that expense

Oooh! I voted. It was... long.
This month there were exceptionally many tracks that I liked musical composition! I'm glad of that. Soon I will have so much good music with OSC that I will do without anything else!
What I didn't like - I think that in a "Any ... synth" type of challenge that allows you to use different synths, you need to adhere more strictly to the form of the track name (including Name, Synth, Track name), so that you don't have to spend a lot of time searching for this information. Now you can accuse me of being biased, but what matters to me is the choice of synthesizer - it shows how much the participant has overcome its limitations.

@IV! If I had used Synth1 or Dexed, I'm pretty sure that my track might have sounded "better" in some ways. BUT, my personal challenge was to use all hardware, partly because I could (and I understand many/most here do not own synth hardware), even though it was old, sitting in an attic, not knowing if it would work etc. One of my FX units stopped putting out audio (so not a lot of use!), and another, the Boss Digital Reverb needed some new capacitors. The mixing desk is very old, noisy, but using line-level signals, there was enough headroom to not worry about that other than careful gain staging at each and every stage.
Having used most if not all the soft synths in this round before, I could make reasonable judgements about the sound design etc.
Making a good tune and having fun is what it's all about. Again, thanks for the lovely comments, very much appreciated

Just 'reposting' the track description with the track on SC would suffice, at least for the duration of the voting. You'll always find mine with the track. Didn't start with synth this time, though. Bit clumsy, that. In case you missed it: I used the KORG Odyssey VSTi, without velocity control, synced LFO or polyphony. But with the three filter types, as these are also on the KORG Odyssey hardware, which the VST emulates ( not the original Odyssey )IV! wrote: Mon Feb 08, 2021 7:46 pm Oooh! I voted. It was... long.

@DoctorBob @ELEX
It's all right, I still went to every track SC page to find out (or remember) what synth it was made with (along the way leaving comments if they came to mind) because I wanted to be honest. Agree that if you hear two tracks with a similar technical / musical level, but one is made with Diva, and the other with VL-1, then your ratings for these tracks will differ.
Personally, I did not deduct points for softsynth, but sometimes I added them for heroism and creativity for the fight against hardsynth. I'm especially inspired about Leonard Bowman's little monster, RuediRena's manipulation of the Casio VL-1 and the fully analog way of DoctorBob! I myself had to play in an awkward key and in a limited time due to burning keys and troubleshooting, which would not have happened with VST
@DoctorBob @ELEX
and your tracks are among my favorites, absolutely!
