Thanks, haha.

I hope for better times one day. :)

Hey everyone just saw this thread. I'm actually setting up a home studio on a budget and I was wondering if my cheap refurbished laptop would be able to run cubase 11 artist. It's a HP ZBOOK 15U G3 with a i7 6500u CPU 2.5Ghz-3Ghz 4mb cache, 500GB SSD and 16GB RAM. Now my project would have around 30 tracks so not huge. Would that be able to run Cubase 11 "smoothly"?

That's not far off what mine is and yeah, you can run stuff easily with that. Depends on how much stuff you're going to run live with plugins - you probably will have to render a bit. I do that anyway, irrespective of CPU power. Unless you're being silly, you have enough power there for sure. :tu:

I am holding off updating to C 11, as C10.5 is starting to lag out for me, i'm unable to find out if its a rogue plugin, causing the GUI lag or just the fact im on a slightly older chip to Ryzens. (FX 8350)

So, I am wondering if anyones upgraded to Cubase 11 from 10.5 and running an older CPU ?
Hi LeVzi :-)

It should work on your machine as it supports this instruction set:
MMX, SSE, SSE2, SSE3, SSSE3, SSE4a, SSE4.2, AVX, AES, FMA3, FMA4

I recommend installing the latest mainboard drivers to make sure that the hardware runs smoothly.
The floating point performace of your CPU is not so good. Many plugins heaviliy rely on it.
You could think about getting a new Ryzen this Summer, when hardware prices got back to normal.

Thanks mate, but that was a year ago. I have since upgraded to a Ryzen since then :) All's good here.
