And please no Junos and Jupiters anymore :tu:
What no Alpha Juno with MKS-50 Portamento, Jupiter 4, 6 and MKS-80 Super Jupiter. Then there is the JP-8080.

A plug out fully featured version of the JX-8P or hell why not the JX-10.

Plenty of analogues to be done. But speaking of Digital a JD-800 with all JD-990 features with the Vintage synth board end expansions would be awesome too.

Hi! Just curious, what's MKS-50 Portamento? I am a developer of an Alpha Juno emulation but I never encountered a MKS-50 unfortunately. Does the portamento somehow differ from the JU-1/2 ?

What the Alpha Juno always had Portamento? Well that's good I thought it didn't though. I only briefly played with a Alpha years ago, trying to use the dial wheel and the fact it weighted a ton compared to a JP8000.

I'm curious. Why do so many people want the JP-8080 or JP-8000 as a plugin?

Don't get me wrong. I have a JP-8000 and I love it but I don't think that this machine has much to offer in terms of sound that isn't covered by Zencore. They are so similar that I wouldn't be surprised if you still find find references to the JP code in the current Zencore sources. The only missing feature is the feedback oscillator but for me that is not enough to build a $199 emulation around.

Some devices have iconic presets but the JPs are not among them. The presets showcase the instruments very well but apart from that they are of very limited use.

The special thing about the JP-80X0 series is the direct hands on control of pretty much all synthesis parameters and also the performance controls on the 8000 (love the ribbon). It is hard to replicate that experience on a computer screen.

AFAIR the JP-8000 sends out all movements of the sliders, buttons and dials over MIDI so I could use the hardware as remote controller for the plugin. This would really be fun but it's a rather rare use case as most Cloud users won't have the real thing at hands.

Supersaw for one thing. but personally I’m not looking in terms of buying individual licenses anyway, instead considering the whole cloud subscription to make it better value with more and more models.
I wouldn’t be against it being emulated in Zen either as it makes sense to have digital in digital and keep the heavy duty ACB stuff for hardware analogue recreations.

Are you safe?

The Jp8000 has a nice Feedback Osc and layer patches.

Yeah the JU-1/2 has portamento too. The MKS-50 has 16 slot chord memory while the Alpha Juno only stores one chord. We probably should emulate the 16 chord slots but as far as I know these are not transmitted via Sysex anyway..

I have given up any hope of ever using any of these Roland things. Even the free Zenology doesn't work, otherwise id be considering it.

Roland... no we aren't going to protect our legacy brand or patents. No we aren't going to produce any new analog reissues with modern updates. We will abandon that space - we don't chase analog ghosts.

What will you do then?

Roland: We'll move to the cloud and give you the worst experience possible.

Why?

Roland: Because that's the future.

yep, JX-10 with MKS-70 module, that would be tremendous.

Argh. RC has been working for me without major hitches so far, but now the RC manager constantly asks me to log in, then tries to update itself, then download freezes at 1%, etc. Looks like it already updated itself once, but now it tries to do it again, or something.... I'm just not sure, the whole thing is an utter mess. This happens on two separate computers, so it shouldn't be something wrong with my system?

Roland, I love you, or at least I try my best, because your hardware synths were my first keyboards in the early 90's, and I have fond memories from those times. JD-800 is probably the favourite piece of technology I have ever owned. Please:

- Hire someone who knows how to make websites, plugin interfaces and other software look good, attractive and usable. Right now everything looks like it was made by coder, not a GUI/graphic designer. (Nothing against coders, I'm one too! But there's a person for every job :) )

- Case in point: Roland Cloud manager. Why does it take forever for it to "start up"? What is it doing? Why does it look dark, bleak and uninviting? Can't the SERIES labels be in alphabetical order?

- Do a better job of hiding the technical side of things, and instead try make everything look more like a finished, usable product. When I log in to the website, why I often get a stupid "Token expired" popup, sometimes multiple times? What "token"? I have no idea what you are talking about (and I'm a web designer and coder). Just ask me to log in, then remember my login, done.

- The whole Play4Life/Loyalty/YOURS/whatever thing is such a mess that I stopped trying to make sense of it a long time ago. I don't want to contact your support to ask what my status is or what I'm entitled to, just tell me clearly on your webpage or account page what I can expect. Saves your support's time too.

I completely agree with every point made here. I have experienced all of these same frustrations, but I badly want it to be fixed because I also love my old Roland hardware (SH-101, TB-303, TR-606, TR-808, TR-909, TD-12, JV-1080, JP-8080, + numerous other lesser known modules) and love having them available ITB.
