otherwise we leave a false depiction for those who follow, like all the pastoral hymns, were little else of that periods music in england is remembered, people here have a vision it was all lovely back then. had there been more of the "pop" songs of the day recorded for posterity, we would have all kinds of songs about pox, plagues and demons
pop music of the day would be drinking songs and such, a few of which do exist, and often do go in to the more unappetizing areas of life.
obviously fewer of those folk could write, so thats why there's less of them available.
as for die antwoord, what they did if nothing else, was show the world that south africa is no different from any other country, has its problems same as the rest of us.
don't be ashamed of them, be ashamed of the problems that create them and those vulnerable and impressionable enough to follow![]()
I have absolutely no objection to what Die Antwoord do,
they r one of my faves-
but they come from a world where it's not domestic like me
check the one with the chogaloch or whatever
when they take the gloves off these cats are wild
a couple of the ones with 16 are nightmares
I think art can portray a beauty or aesthetic to a fantastic degree
--but certainly there is a place for anything.
I think Art essentially is anything that exists, or art
