Some truly lovely tones! Plasmonic also really flows from one tone to another in a pleasing way. One can put in all sorts of 'artifacts' (in the good sense) that still sound musical and part of the basic tone.

yes! And also I noticed that sometimes some of the resonances add up by separate notes crossing frequency paths (not saying I know that's how it happens, just that it sounds like this) and creating some interactions that sound wholly different. Like some kind of resonance summing that is all of a sudden way louder (which I like). Kinda of the same thing I get when using control voltages and little surprise occurrences from that analog "alchemy".pdxindy wrote: Wed Feb 10, 2021 8:12 pm Some truly lovely tones! I also like the flute tones from Plasmonic.

Yes, that describes it good. It really has a kind of flow and you can edit all kind of subtle things you would expect to happen in acoustic instruments when you do things like overblowing a woodwind f.e.pdxindy wrote: Wed Feb 10, 2021 8:12 pm Some truly lovely tones! Brian must have put a lot thoughts into it really. It is really a very very musical instrument. There are just 2 other "synths" which I really felt so much fun and alive sounds while playing with it (P900 and Alchemy).
I hope it is a successful project for Brian and it will evolve even further with coming updates.

it's kind of it's own self contained instrument in ways.

So, finally my first "full" track made with 7 Plasmonic presets. Just some help from 2CAudio Precedence and Breeze 2 on top for spatialization.
Kind of a soundtrack like track....

This or Sakura? I like Sakura's interface more at a glance...but as far as resonance-type synths go, it would be interesting to hear from someone who has extensive experience with both.

I’ve used both and made a whole sound bank for Sakura but Plasmonic is far more flexible and also easier to create a wider range of physically modelled sounds in - Sakura tends to have a limited range sonically and is easier to create bad sounds withJkist wrote: Thu Feb 11, 2021 8:21 pm This or Sakura? It’s also not particularly stable

I thought I cannot get nice brass sounds out of Plasmonic but now I am on the way here too maybe...

heh... love that one! I haven't tried anything brass like either, but now I'm intrigued.Cinebient wrote: Fri Feb 12, 2021 1:50 am I thought I cannot get nice brass sounds out of Plasmonic but now I am on the way here too maybe...

Yeah, Plasmonic is fun and when I think it cannot do something I am proven wrong after some time. I did now several flute timbres and different brass, bassoon, saxophone like timbres, harp, piano, strings, guitars etc.
The only thing it can't do is human voices....but maybe....
But beside that it does of course really wonderful synth sounds.
I really begin to appreciate even more how fast and easy you can go from one sound to another or even could combine all them in one presets and morph between them if you like.
What is great that it inspires me, in a week I maybe made 100+ presets (not polished yet really) which is rare for me.

O.k. one more but then its enough really
A bit more fine tuned brass. Now I have to edit it all and transform it to MPE (Seabord Rise in my case).
So beware you can play that much much more expressive, this here is played just on my computer keyboard with some random midi values since I am too lazy to put out my Seaboard (and still far away from mastering it).
So for me Plasmonic could maybe really go into kind of SWAM territory when it comes to expression and organic sound but still is more for creating non-real instruments but with a realistic acoustic character. But I could imagine a very talented sound designer could get much closer maybe.
