Really? Have you listened to it? I find a use for it in just about every piece I work on. It's got a terrific sound and is really easy to work with.

Yeah, don't you just hate it when everything is on one page, laid out in a logical order so it makes sense right away!?!

Sigh

I get it. They modeled the UI directly after the hardware unit, and it probably feels just like home for those who have actually used the real thing. But I have said it many times before, and I will keep saying it. Directly copying the interfaces of hardware into software versions isn't the best practice. Aspects of the hardware should of course be brought over, but the software version of plugins really ought to take advantage of things only the virtual world can offer.

Why just accept the constraints and design choices made by the original designers? Obviously the first argument would be because they were the ones that designed it, so their design must make sense on some level. And of course it does...in hardware form. For those of us who have never used a real Knifonium, it feels a bit awkward and uninspiring to interact with such an obviously hardware-inspired UI in my opinion.

Same goes for countless hardware compressors, EQs, reverbs, etc. that have been converted into software form. For example:

Horrible IMO. These designs only truly benefit those acutely familiar with the real hardware units. But I digress, that is an entire discussion worthy of its own thread.

Yeah, it sounds nice. And yeah, for $15 bucks you are getting a hell of a deal. But personally, I have enough synths similar enough in flavor that I don't feel the need to spring for this one, especially given my distaste for the interface. I understand its reminiscent of other basic hardware synths, but I'm still not a fan of these design choices. My 2 cents.

ok, buddy. I'm sure your knobs are better than everyone else's knobs, yes?
Blows my mind the things people will say to try and justify their behavior.

The Elysia one is horrible because of the dreadful 3D rendering which gets the perspective all wrong, but I think the Knifonium looks fine. I have a preference for non skeuomorphic design myself but if its an emulation of such an iconic piece of hardware I can appreciate the fact that they felt it would be best to look like it, and everything is logically laid out.

Because the only way we can convey something is able to be interacted with in the digital realm is with knobs, yep. What behavior? My disinterest in a synth? Lol.

In my opinion software synths that don't try to emulate old hardware synths (with all their inherent limitations and quirky interfaces) are normally more interesting and easier to use (Phase Plant would be a good example)...but when you are in the $30 Synths world, a one trick pony and modelled GUI is fine for me (and you get a decent amount of pretty descent fx with this one).
X32 and 24C mixers, S88MK3, Live + PUSH 3, Osmose, RedShift 6, Pro3, S4, Tempera, Syntakt, Digitone, OP1-F, OPXY, TR-1000, Eurorack, TD27 Drums, Guitars, Basses, Amps and of course lots of pedals!

FTFY: Vacuum/Pro

i was thinking vacuum pro might be the closest comparison, but you can actually see the gui without a magnifying glass.

who ever told air to put dark lettering on a dark background 3 pixels high should be imprisoned imo.

and half of it scratched out! sheesh

Grabbed it for 15 €, got enough nice sounds, certainly something I'll fire up from time to time.
