hiya people.

does anyone know of a wav file chopper/batch wav file creator? something that wouyld take a wav, anbd where it is silent for a period of time, would split the wav into many seperate wavs? hopefully with a threshold/time control so i could even take out individual notes from an arpeggio?

i often jam for up to an hour, and would love to do a batch split of the hour-long wav file, so i dont have to sit in sonar and cut it up manually. i could then load then load them into ableton and off i go.

also, any wav audition/database program for the thousands of sounds that would be created?

EnergyXT's sampler would suit your needs. It has a really accurate slicing algorithm, and it also can slice into equal parts, and into beats - as well as the traditional automatic slicer ala Recycle.

does it split a wav, then output millions of wavs into a folder, so i can load them into my sampler, whilst i have a mocha?

i tried energyxt, and i was hopeless at it, but i will try it again if it can do this. right now i split my jamming session wave by hand manually in sonar, and have to do file>export>filename>enter about a thousand times. for every song i write. sure spoils creativity this way.

looking at recycle now, maybe what i need. and am hunting about my harddrive for enrergyXT, and a coffee, and the special 'energyXT glasses' i need to use it

definately waveknife is a great unknown little tool that can save you weeks of fiddling.

'sonar' (not cakewalk sonar) is a batch auditioner that also is an unknown wonder. then there is 'samplecatalog' which is a brilliant audio databaser.....'cept i forget where i found these.

better google these babies tho.

i actually remember it from an old website called 'computer music programs' or summink. im really glad ive got that now.

i can now do a split with sonar (cakewalk one), so i can see how deep the split is going, (if it is cutting into the sounds too much) then transfer the -db level to waveknife, and output the wavs.

and im on the lookout for the audition soft now.
