I was thinking of a drum sound as that of Rock with You by Michael Jackson. Do you have any suggestions?

If its that very dry, close miked sound you want I'd have a look at 'Vintage Dry', Addictive Drums;

The instruments or samples subforums might be more suitable.
If we are talking 70s funk acoustic drums, I can recommend these (not VSTs, but sample libs, some require NI Kontakt, but most include the raw samples too):
https://gumroad.com/pasttofuturesamples ... e=1#XggvXs. (go to "Disco Drums")
https://www.drum-drops.com/collections/ ... n-funk-kit
https://www.drum-drops.com/collections/ ... erstar-kit
https://www.drum-drops.com/collections/ ... asonic-kit
https://www.native-instruments.com/de/p ... s-drummer/
(the tight kit, the other one is more rock sounding)
For 80s style funk you need LinnDrums (LM1, LM2) and DMX drum machine samples.

Here is the drummer (who played on the original recording) performing the song -- John "JR" Robinson.JoseSuarez wrote: Fri Feb 12, 2021 9:47 pm I was thinking of a drum sound as that of Rock with You by Michael Jackson. Do you have any suggestions?
You can likely get the sound you want with the free MT Power Drum Kit and the right processing.

There are plenty of Simmons, LinnDrums and DMX samples out there, including free ones. Easy to find.surreal wrote: Sat Feb 13, 2021 5:25 pm Very nice topic and close to what I am searching for.. but I am after some free Simmons drums, any recommendations?

In the 80s, Tama made some nice drumsynths, quite close to the Simmons.surreal wrote: Sat Feb 13, 2021 5:25 pm Very nice topic and close to what I am searching for.. but I am after some free Simmons drums, any recommendations?
Self-promotion, but this pack is not free but cheap and you can grab some demo samples...

Wave Alchemy offers high-quality samples of old analog classics and an instrument called "Drumvolution" that covers all the basses and is really fun to work with!!

Thank you very much! I don't have funds for even cheap at the moment but in your demo paxk is some great sounds that I definitely would like to use in some if my current songs I am working on if I am allowed to. Maybe next month I can buy the full cheap packsinkmusic wrote: Sat Feb 13, 2021 7:37 pmIn the 80s, Tama made some nice drumsynths, quite close to the Simmons.surreal wrote: Sat Feb 13, 2021 5:25 pm Very nice topic and close to what I am searching for.. but I am after some free Simmons drums, any recommendations?
