Some suggestions do not make sense at all. For example: Weiss EQ is a clean, digital EQ (the hardware is strictly digital DSP), the opposite of an analog style colorizer. IKJB Luftikus is a nice channel EQ inspired by the Maag, but does not model analog nonlinearities (it's authentic in the curves and parameter selection though).

I can recommend TDR Slick EQ for analog style EQ. The GE version has some useful additions, but free one is sufficient already. It has the characteristics of analog hardware without being a rigid emulation of one particular unit.

Also recommendable: Ignite Amps free Pultec emulation, very analog sounding!

If you want to take it further you could try LVC Audio Toned-Max with selectable analog input and output stage.

You're right. Weiss EQ is digital. I read the title of the thread in a broader EQ in general sense rather than focusing specifically on "analog/colorizer" sense. I stand corrected.

@dblock

No worries, personally I prefer the advantages of digital tools btw.

People have already mentioned a few of my favourites...

Slick EQ Ge is indeed a bargain and a great workhorse eq.
The Mastering Edition is excellent too.

But for that ITB analog sound I do always end up with -

Acustica - Coffee and/or Pink.

And - the new Acustica Blond is probably their best yet... the combined preamp and eq sections are outrageously good...the Binson Eq model with one of the custom preamps will change any bland ITB sound into something with character.

Yup. Gold and Pink are my go-to equalisers if I want strong coloration.

I don't have any of the very latest AA releases, but Gold, Pink, Cream (in conjunction with it's 'tube' and 'magic' settings), Magenta, Taupe (with its EQ) all give such a huge palette of 'colours'. I think anyone into 'analog'-style EQ should be exploring these now.

Outside of AA I also use Black Rooster Audio VEQ-1P and VEQ-5 (Pultec) and DDMF's 6144 (this one came recommended by bManic, thanks!).

FabFilter EQ to cut, and the above to boost. Heaven.

Its true that the analog - switch is a bit misleading in the Luftikus.
