InPhase is on sale cheap now so might be worth looking at.

How do you use Equilibrium to manipulate phase (and not frequency)?

Post

EQ which is equipped with allpass filter can manipulate phase and not frequency /and there are many of them, not only Equilibrium.../, so no need to use specialized tools like Disperser etc.., the only exception is linear/broadband phase manipulation /like in Voxengo PHA.../

got PHA too for linear phase rotation, but mostly use the Forward Audio one for the time delaying as it can do sub sample shifts if you change the maximum amount of samples that the dial can go to. for those times when you wanna be extra precious about it
For time delaying?

Thought we were talking about phase.

I just went off on a bit of a tangent reeling off plugins i find myself often using for those situations. In fairness though, Forward Audio's FaTimeDelay is a bit more capable than most sample delays. It offers sub sample accuracy, and i am not sure if you are aware, but PHA-979 has linear FIR phase rotation in degrees, not just polarity and the sample delay (which is poorly implemented for its intended task)

If you read my post you would see i also said that the best way to handle phase correlation situations is to incorporate both "but with less contribution from the sample delay"which is why i use FaTimeDelay, because you have a very fine control of the values between samples, which guarantees little contribution from the delay(less chance of comb filtering or skipping over better points of correlation between the two sounds). You seem to be insinuating or implying that i ruled out entirely linear shifts with a delay as a whole, which i didn't, and i suggest you read what i put again :tu:

It has both negative and positive polarity allpass filters. Also there is free phase mode which you can use as a kind of parametric phase rotation device for the peaks and shelves at least. the phase rotation is a necessity for pass filters to work at their intended order and altering phase will just reduce the amount of attenuation. Free phase mode comes with the caveat of the FIR filters contorting the transients a bit too much for my liking unless you use huge kernel sizes(not a realistic option for tracking)

I use the Forward Audio plugins on every drum mix. I used to use the free one and then decided to support them by purchasing the rest. Great tool for a specific job. Early one, I had a problem with a bug but they fixed it super fast. Great company.

My god man. You poo poo'ed my suggestion that a free time delay could help with phase alignment, then you went on to say that both actually help (semantics), now when I call you out you are suggesting that "in fairness" the one you suggested (way later in the thread) is better. Well done.

If you want to auto - align your phase - issues, why not just use the Melda AutoAlign which was made for that purpose. I mean the other mentioned will also work, yet I kind of dont get the Discussion still going, with more than enough tools which could already solve this?
