so a dev will be more likely to include 'big' sounds that are all fur coat and no knickers and could really be any synth, rather than classic sounds that are specific to a synth (but hey, you can do those in any synth too right?)

seems odd to spend so much time modelling micro details of a classic synth to then fill it with sounds from a modern generic cheese fest genre...

The precise reason onboard FX always ruin an hardware emulation and the reason TAL-U-No-LX has the best 3rd party patch collection of any softsynth. There just weren't any FX to abuse.

it's not the fx, it's the fact the certain ppl feel the need to drown every preset in them

some fx are very good and can make a preset, but little and often is better imo

Software emulations of 70s and 80s hardware are always better without FX (and even without polyphony..see Gforce Oddity 1.0). Limitations are a good thing. That way you will design the same types of sounds the hardware became famous for.

The SEM was meant to complement the Minimoog. Who wants a Minimoog emulator with 50 FX drenched Pad patches? If you want flexibilty go and play with Reaktor 6.

do you really think nobody put synths thru fx in the 70s?

+1 for a bigtone soundbank

And now there are, he just added delay and reverb. :D

Yes, but the great LX banks already exist (10 years). VSP alone has done 10 sets.

well, although The Legend is very simple, a small collection of more vintage sounds would be really cool.

Post

No disrespect to Brok but isn't The Legend simple enough that anybody should be able to get the sounds they want from it ?

What is the Obsession patch that Brok Landers did? I thought one particular factory patch was well above the rest.

Also who is he and how does everyone know of him?

The man the myth the legend :)
There is actually a thread about him on kvr.

If I recall correctly, The Legend was based on bigtone minimoog.
