u-he Hive is now M1 compatible with the latest beta release: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=560924

Also, several recent Voxengo updates are now M1 compatible too:

CurveEQ - https://www.voxengo.com/press/voxengo-c ... eased-423/
TEOTE - https://www.voxengo.com/press/voxengo-t ... eased-422/
PrimeEQ - https://www.voxengo.com/press/voxengo-p ... eased-421/

I'm sure more will follow from Voxengo too :)

You may also add ValhallaDSP Supermassive to the list - https://valhalladsp.com/shop/reverb/val ... ermassive/ (compatible with ARM/M1 with v1.2.2)

Plugin Boutique Scaler 2 and Virtual CZ have native M1 versions.
Signatures are so early 2000s.

I've just seen on Plugin Boutique that the following plugins are native M1 compatible:

Mastering the Mix
EXPOSE
ANIMATE
Reference 2
MIXROOM

Plugin Boutique
Carbon Electra
Signatures are so early 2000s.

Thanks - where is the Scaler 2 version? I can't see it on their website.

It's one MacOS installer as far as I can see, I installed using that and now have Scaler 2 running in Logic.

In my Plugin Boutique account it says version 2.3.0
Signatures are so early 2000s.

I can confirm that Mastering the Mix ANIMATE is M1 native but Carbon Electra isn't.

Strange, it says on the Carbon Electra Store page that M1 is supported?

“System Requirements

Mac

OS X 10.7 or later (64-bit only) (macOS 11 Big Sur and M1 Mac Supported)”
Signatures are so early 2000s.

I guess they mean it's supported through rosetta.

I checked with Plugin Boutique support and they said:

“The developer has confirmed that Carbon Electra will work natively on M1 so you shouldn't have any issues there. We've also not received any reports of issues from existing customers using the M1 processor.”
Signatures are so early 2000s.

Well, I'm running the latest version downloaded from my Plugin Boutique account and in Logic with nothing but one instance of Carbon Electra, activity monitor -> CPU -> AUHostingCompatibilityService (Logic Pro) Architecture = Intel

The developer is playing fast and loose with the facts. The Carbon Electra binary is definitely Intel-only.

Code: Select all

$ pwd
.../Carbon Electra.component/Contents/MacOS
$ file "Carbon Electra"
Carbon Electra: Mach-O 64-bit bundle x86_64
The VST reports the same.

For this developer "work natively" means "run under Rosetta2." It's aggravating the games some of these devs play. Either that, or the trial is a separate binary from the registered version, and the trial binary has yet to be updated.

I can confirm that the Mastering The Mix plugins noted are native. BASSROOM is also native.

I can also confirm my irritation with developers who don't bother noting this fact in their specifications, nor even the latest version numbers, leaving us to guess if a product has been updated, and where it will run.

Developers tagging their plugins as Universal 2 Binary when they're only delivered as x86 isn't fair for business like mine who have actually invested a lot of money to get their products to work with full SSE x86 to NEON port and real native support for Apple Silicon chips.

There are lots of products misleadingly tagged as U2B (Universal 2 Binary) at KVR database https://www.kvraudio.com/plugins/the-ne ... l-2-binary so I have contacted KVR administration to request addressing this issue and I also ask everyone who cares about this to do the same and point them to this thread (which is doing an excellent job on this matter).

Some kind of verification shouldn't be that hard and will benefit everyone.
