Hi Gang :)

I'm after some Drum loops in Sample or midi format but not in 4/4 time.

I want to spice up some 4/4 songs with different timings.

Any help finding them will be much appreciated.

Thanks.

Hi,

Try Groove Criminals & Groove Monkee.

I'm fairly sure their addresses are: {name .com}

They both supplied files for LinPlugs' RMIV.

Have Fun :D

As to me, it is WAY cooler to modify a 4/4 drumloop to make it 7/8 etc. Just slice the loop in "one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight" beats and double/remove one of them to achieve a different timing.

It is quite hard getting that "rolling" groove you know from 7/8 or 5/4 beats (listen to Cinematic Orchestra or Brubeck's Take Five) but after a couple of hours you should get something decent :roll:

You could have Bill Bruford play your midi loops:

A good drummer or programmer will have some understanding of how to accent an odd-time sig. beat to help it flow & sound smoother. Thus, if you can find them, I tend to believe you'd be better off working with beats that were originally composed in the time sig. you're after than trying to manipulate & reshape 4/4 beats.
Ideas are bulletproof... I am not.
