I've entered this competition 3 times, Pendulate, Monique, and any hardware synth, and i haven't noticed a disproportionate amount of club bangers. (although i haven't listened to this month songs yet)
We have to listen to all your different things and you don't have to suffer us moaning about it!
Already the rules of the competition are very strict, for example we can't use reverse, phaser, pitch-shifting. The rules already make it difficult for us.
Having said that. i'm not complaining about doing a different (limited) synth or whatever.![]()
And I'm sorry if I gave you the wrong idea: I'm all for them! You'll never hear me complain, much less moan, about any sort of music!

Oh yeahh, I am a big fan of this idea! I own some of them and they sound great.schiing wrote: Fri Feb 05, 2021 7:38 am With the occasional branching out into hardware and stuff, I was thinking about - and I'm not sure if it's a good idea, or even really in the spirit of OSC - whether Spitfire's LABS could be an alternative for a future entry...
But I fear that is too much away from the OSC-concept. There is hardly anything you can do soundwise. Especially when we have the same rules as in the the OSC. And it would dopen a door to other ideas beside the kind of synth we usualy use.
But if .... I AM IN!

Hi. Just to share a link to a video that in my opinion explains in an interesting way certain points about compression in drums - and in general. I hope it is also interesting to someone else here in OSC.

Yeah, I like this guy - his relaxing, zen-like, food-for-thought style is a perfect way to end the day... put on a decent set of headphones, play his new video, let those ideas simmer as you go to sleep and, wahey, maybe your mixing is just a little bit more on point tomorrow!L-EctroBit wrote: Wed Feb 17, 2021 4:00 pm Hi. And I think his point about *movement* is something that's really important. I'm quite sure many newbies will improve their tracks manyfold by paying a little more attention to that. Certainly in the way we use compression and how it affects the groove flow, but in general as well, moving subtly between instrumentation combos, riding faders over phrases, perhaps a bit of gentle filter automation in a rhythm sequence or some panning movement on the arps.
Alternatively, replace "subtly", "gentle" and "some" with "abruptly", "extreme" and "a lot of" if that's your groove!

Hi all,
I want to inform you, that a German website called Amazona.de did an interview with me. The content is not only about my music. Great part of the Interview is about the OSC! So I think I could do a lot of publicity for the OSC.
For all who can read this German text:

That's great stuff, photonic! I like the nod to Lindup - I was always a huge Lindup/Badarou/Level 42 fan. And it's a nice opportunity to brush up on my (very) rusty Germanphotonic wrote: Sun Feb 21, 2021 4:26 pm Hi all,

Great interview, enjoyed reading this and hearing more about one of the heroes of the OSC. Nice to see someone else using REAPER for OSC as well. I'd be fascinated to see what one of you REAPER project files looks like if you ever feel like sharing (no pressure!). There's always lot of useful tips and tricks to learn from seeing how other people's workflow.photonic wrote: Sun Feb 21, 2021 4:26 pm Hi all,

Not sure if this is allowed, but since we can't use hardware every month and we just love hardware (and software) we created this Analogue Solution Telemark V2 only track. Effects, EQ and dynamics are of course used to give it some ear candy.
More info about the synth: https://www.analoguesolutions.com/store/telemark <- unfortunately the synth is discontinued, but nevertheless still really good sounding if you ask us.
