I also got this, the deal is insane. I remember demoing it on headphones a while ago and not being impressed. Demoed it again on monitors and bam, loved it's chunky sound and simplicity. But the CPU usage, oh dear!

Bumping this thread because this is an incredible sounding plugin and I suspect there are a lot of Windows users right now that might want a little Oberheim SEM magic.

A video of the original I've come along recently, which I used to compare Oberhausen's sound a bit to it. Only tried with the very first sounds (I got bored very fast TBH...), but, I got very similar results.

What's that you say? Geforce? They make pretty good graphics cards.

Oberhausen is my number one favourite at the moment. Phenominal synth even though I find it a little buggy and power hungry.

It's not too bad if you keep the voice count down and it's so huge you don't really need to stack too many voices, too often. It is absolutely my favourite VSTi. I tried out Arturia's SEM V the other night and it doesn't quite do it for me to the same extent. Arturia gets the basic flavour right but bx_oberhausen has all the extra spice that makes it shine.
Who is going to pay 150 quid for the GForce thing when you can have this for $40 most of the time? GForce seems to think the answer is "Mac users" and they might be right.

Totally agree on the voice count Bones. 4 to 8 is plenty.BONES wrote: Wed Feb 24, 2021 1:23 am It's not too bad if you keep the voice count down and it's so huge you don't really need to stack too many voices, too often. The only reason why I would have done that (if the price is right... which it isn't) would be to have some specific architectural things which are present in the original 8-voice. Like... being able to play all 8 SEM modules polyphonically. Which isn't possible in Oberhausen, it just lets you play one SEM module polyphonically.BONES wrote: Wed Feb 24, 2021 1:23 am It's not too bad if you keep the voice count down and it's so huge you don't really need to stack too many voices, too often. I can really live without that though, especially as, like you say, Oberhausen sounds absolutely fantastic, and sets quite a benchmark for "that" Oberheim sound. Actually, I'm doubtful OB-E can even compete with that, judging solely by the sound demos though.

OB-E can't touch this in terms of sound quality, but it has that G-Force musicality that I also love about Oddity. Very charming sounding and great for rich textures with lots of movement.
