Hello
Im working in music business for more than 15 years and since this industry is changing fast thanks to technology, internet, covid, AI/Automation etc.
I love music and business / marketing is too my hobby i can say.
So what do you think which industries will be growing and which will die?
feel free to tell your opinion what would happen with these industries before covid if covid didnt existed and now after covid (if covid will ends or if it will be still problem if vaccines doesnt work on new mutations)
A.) On-line or Personal Mastering services
pros: you can get customers worldwide, analog sounds often better people dont have money to buy expensive hardware, room, personalized service - market will not be oversaturated like for example in physical products which have long lifetime
cons: can be automatized, ai mastering, kids uses mobile phone and youtube sound doesnt matter, kids offering home mastering services, people think plug-ins and home monitors are ok for mastering and all they need
B.) Recording studios
pros: people like music and probably will always like while selling albums is dead and streaming generates only few bucks live artists are earning a lot
for live shows before covid some bands 100 000 eur per show or more, some top artist earning from youtube ads
personalized service - market will not be oversaturated like for example in physical products which have long lifetime
cons: music is more electronic, less bands more pop and hiphop rappers / singers - they can record at home
less money in selling albums or any, there are no money for music/recording in many less developed cities/countries
c.) Online mixing services / analog mixing services on-line
pros: people still dont know how to make good sound at home studio, dont have knowhow,
probably this will be not automatized like AI mastering?? with AI automatic mixing plug-ins?
personalized service - market will not be oversaturated like for example in physical products which have long lifetime
cons: many musicians are narcistic assholes to be honest - difficult to discuss online and share vision online
if offering service locally market is small because many amateur musicians doesnt care about sound cos kids are using moile phones to listen?
d.) music software plug-ins development:
pros: big market more people making music
cons: market will be more and more oversaturated - more products are available, more developers and it is not like when you produce food after
eating there is no food but plug-in remain forever at the internet offer, There are more and more plugins available, Software Piracy
e.) Making digital hardware instruments/effects?
pros: technology is future, you can ask more for new technologies, patents
cons: everything is going to digital people buying more plug-ins than hardware synths and effects no?
f.) Visual services for musicians - covers of albums, covers for labels, animations for music, videos
pros: there is more and more amateur and electronic musicians growing market, it is personalized service and
market will be probably never oversaturated, there will be no AI making visual services soon??
cons: there is so much music, people are waiting when some label will find them dreaming but this will never happens,
g.) On-line teaching services
pros: more and more amateur musicians who want to learn ?
cons: software piracy if you offer instructional videos online? People are lazy to learn? Free youtube tutorials?
h.) Marketing services for musicians, bands?
but which are most demanded?
i.) Festivals, Live music?
pros: people always like to have fun
cons: covid? covid will never ends after mutations?
People want to go only to biggest festivals parties with biggest names, new players dont have chance sciccors are opening
and while biggest festivals are growing underground parties and small events are dieing
j.) Recording music videos for musicians?
pros: more and more amateur musicians, people are more narcistic want to become stars
cons: only in big rich cities people want to invest, problem to get in contact with top artists if you are new
K.) Other music releated industries which will grow??
Thanks fr sharing your opinions, experiences, ideas.

In terms of streaming I'm expecting crypto/smart contract/dapp platforms to change the game. I haven't really looked into the business models of the current big centralized platforms; I don't know what proportion of profits go to the artist, but I'd expect that amount to significantly increase on decentralized platforms. I don't think the tech is there yet though, perhaps in a year or two.
Every day takes figuring out all over again how to f#ckin’ live.

Nah. Nothing goes to (indie) artists as no one wants to pay for the music. Artists are the ones who do sponsor this industry.chagzuki wrote: Wed Feb 24, 2021 1:43 pm In terms of streaming I'm expecting crypto/smart contract/dapp platforms to change the game. No idea what will happen after the growing backlash toward fame monsters like Tekashi 6ix9ine & what appears to be a small resurgence in prog rockers & singer/songwriters

Unfortunately, many studios will no longer be able to survive. Who can afford an expensive studio these days. Especially, when you can achieve great results at home. I think the pandemic is also making things worse.

The live sector will surely recover after a while. Perhaps, certain online concerts will become a regular part of music culture after covid. Also, I assume the social media area will become even more important in the future.
