Well, I think after (many) years watching countless soft synths on Youtube beforehand, I got a pretty good sense of what to expect from them after release. Mind you, I didn't think it sounded bad. But if it's that expensive and not any better (or different enough) than my poll of VAs, why bother?Funkybot's Evil Twin wrote: Wed Feb 24, 2021 6:58 pmI wouldn't form a negative opinion on a synth based on YouTube demos. If I was particularly floored by sounds I was hearing on YouTube, it would be an indication that the person creating the sounds has a similar aesthetic sensibility to me and I may like a product, but when I hear something I don't like it's impossible to tell from a YouTube demo whether it's different tastes coming into play, or a product I just don't like the sound of. Only way to tell sometimes is to try on your own.Sinisterbr wrote: Wed Feb 24, 2021 6:35 pm I'm a PC user, so I only heard the Youtube demos.
Sure, it sounds great, but not any better than Oberhausen at all IMO, so.. Meh. Too little, too late (and too expensive), I guess.

Let's do the math:
PA Oberhausen costs 20 bucks per oscillator.
GForce OB-E costs roughly the same per oscillator.
That's fair!
Does OB-E sound four times as fat as Oberhausen?
Obesity is overstated!!

To be fair, Oberhausen's MSRP is $249 or something iirc unless they changed it in the meanwhile.
But wether one needs one, or the other, both or none, depends on each person

I know it's pessimistic but I read that as we are thinking of dropping PC.

Of course they are one of the big “discounters“ in plugin-land (one could snarkily call it scammers too)martinjuenke wrote: Wed Feb 24, 2021 8:28 pmWho pays MSRP for PA stuff?FapFilter wrote: Wed Feb 24, 2021 8:09 pm To be fair, Oberhausen's MSRP is $249 or something iirc unless they changed it in the meanwhile.

It's still what it is: MSRP = $249 (unless they changed it of course), which of course is ridiculous compared to what you can get from other companies

Yeah, but everybody knows you'll be able to purchase it for a tenth of its price a couple times per year. Granted, you gotta wait for that moment, but at least you can count on it. Can the same be said about OB-E?FapFilter wrote: Wed Feb 24, 2021 8:38 pmOf course they are one of the big “discounters“ in plugin-land (one could snarkily call it scammers too)martinjuenke wrote: Wed Feb 24, 2021 8:28 pmWho pays MSRP for PA stuff?FapFilter wrote: Wed Feb 24, 2021 8:09 pm To be fair, Oberhausen's MSRP is $249 or something iirc unless they changed it in the meanwhile.

Not really a sweep person.
Middle C init patch on both, moved the filter from full to minimum, then back to full, then moved reso to full and then moved filter from full to minimum back to full.
One was definitely louder, about 8db louder, so I bumped the louder one down 3 db and bumped the softer one up 5db.
One plays then the other.....
Which filter do you prefer?

usual, right click to hear a dropbox on kvr.
And yes I am aware the automation doesn't link up. and one is a tad longer than the other.

on bx it is in the list, you have to search init
and then disable the fx.
On OB-E, I just hit Mono..

I think Dropbox employs various forms of compression to reduce bandwidth on videos and audio files. If you replace the end of your links with ?raw=1, I believe it will pull down the original file instead.zvenx wrote: Wed Feb 24, 2021 10:08 pm Edit... the 24bit 44.1 khz is not being liked by dropbox. they sound very different that my upload.....
