Hello everyone!

Analog Obsession & BPB releases Rare! And we made it really "Rare"!

There are tons of Pultec! All different but same process at the end. We thought that our version must be different!

Pultec is passive eq with gain stage at the end. Simple but awesome design.

I changed this design and added switchable gain stage. Pre and Post gain stage!

Pultec has its own gain stage at the end and when we boost low or high too much, gain stage will react according to eq moves. That's the special design of Pultec.

But if we place gain stage before eq section, we can saturate signal at the unity gain without changing character by eq section and use eq without side effects of output gain stage.

Pultec has SRPP design and really colorful. So, it will saturate and compress especially low frequencies. But when we switch Pre Gain Stage, our low boost will give same harmonic character as flat. Also, we can keep highs from gain stage and this will make highs cleaner! With this feature, we can use Pultec without any harmonic changes while we use eq section.

Hi Tunca, I have 2 bugs to report about this new version of Rare. Nothing game-breaking but a little annoying:

1) According to Reaper (64 bits version 6.23 on Windows 10). Rare 6.0 BPB has 80 sampels of delay with Oversampling ON and 16 with it OFF. IF the DAW bypass button is used nothing weird happens, but if the Rare Power button turnbed OFF the delay goes down to 0 samples resulting in desync. The correct amount of delay goes back once the Power button is turned ON.

2) When using the DAW Bypass or the Power button to deactivate the plugin, a crackle occurs. It also happens when the Power button is turned ON. Btw, the crackle is louder when the Power button is used.

I really liked v5.0 of this plug, just tried v6.0 and got a much bigger hit on cpu and the output level seemed to be maxed out @ 12db?
Also tried the updated versions recently released, with GUI updates, immediate crash
Anyway, will go back to older versions as was happy with these

1) Yes, plugins has 16 samples latency and 80 samples with oversampling. And if you bypass plugin with Power button, latency will be 0 sample and will report to DAW. I had to do that. Otherwise, it will cause phase issue according to latency. Especially, problem for parallel channels. My main DAW is Reaper (latest) and i didn't notice any de-syncing with normal or parallel tracks. Also, all DAWs react different about PDC. It's hard to manage for all DAWs. This method is better to cover all DAWs. But some DAWs need stop/play to sync audio.

Hi!

When did you try latest version of other updated plugins? I've updated BritChannel, Britpressor, KONSOL, TREQ and MPReq. Also, new plugin BritPre.

First, plugins were using OpenGL and GUIs were working with GPU. And some systems didn't handle it and faced crashing. So, i updated all new plugins with CPU instead GPU. You can try them without crash, now.

Heya, the link in the post is broken now... I moved to the new machine and suddenly this plugin isn't working and I get error every time I open my old / current projects. And I used it A LOT. Yup, I couldn't expect that a free plugin would disappear)) Any suggestions where to get the actual BPB edition?
