I used to love GR. Compared to amps sims from the 90's it was incredible sounding when it came out.
The thing I always wanted out it was a unified recording and stage system. I eventually gave up on that ... Times moved on though and now I heavily use the Audio Assault stuff. Chief reason: They have Linux builds. Which means I can run their amp sims on just about any small computer.

Coming from the other way around, there's moddevices. They started out with a hardware offering which warps their amp sims/FX suite in a stage-worthy pedal.
Trouble there though is they have yet, if ever, to wrap their suite in VST or LV2 form, which would complete the recording to stage circuit I desire.

So .... What's the verdict on Bass Invader , Chicago , and Fire Breather ? If you don't have any other amp sims and are a Komplete 12 license holders .... Are these 3 amps and the effects rack worth it the upgrade ? I've been sitting on this .... $199 upgrade for K13 .

I find Helix lite works best lol. Network card interference etc makes vsts a pain. But vst fx after Helix or mixing options not a pain

Chicago is good with single coils, if you like the sound of a small amp from the 50s.

The Fire Breather is fairly nice. It has become a go to for me for heavier classic rock sounds.

Dirt can get you some fuzz like tones, but you need to mess around with it.

I also find myself using the new reverbs quite a bit.

So whatever happened to 'new amp and fx dropping frequently' based on the new tech they developed to make this 'easy' Its been almost 6 months....

I use Amplitube, Scuffham and Guitar Rig... For me personally Amplitube and Scuffham can't do what Guitar Rig does.
For weird digital sounding guitar sounds Guitar Rig is my go to... Definitely not for real organic natural sounding guitar sounds though.

Software development can (I own a company that develops software) and they seem to have managed to put out 3 new products since GR6 including (ironically) session guitarist vintage!

Some need mainframe access that for security reasons they don't want vpn etc access.
But maybe you can show them how.

A Lot of content are not done in house by NI.

Properly, very well managed development studio you mean I suppose?

There's SO many studios/teams that suffer from management unable to cope with covid and full remote work, it's incredible. I hope that it will be eyes opening experience for the owners of companies with weak managers (especially those who got a job because they did well before but in completely different industry and they have no clue about software - a cancer often seen in bigger studios).

I wouldn't expect that software is the major issue for covid. More like having a good clean electrical lab for measuring amp circuits that perhaps only one person could be in at a time.

That’s me too. Nothing about their new amps screams “natural” to me. Actually, I find they work better on synthesizers than on guitar.

I think the Brainworx plugins sound the most accurate to a real amp. I just wish my Apollo was powerful enough to run a distortion box, CE-1, amp sim and lexicon reverb at the same time on my guitar channel. It’s why I keep my Kemper.

So... Is Guitar Rig dead?
