I am a big fan of Reason Drum Sequencer and had to hunt for different solutions as well. My main requirement is Polymeter and Probability per step. The latter being the hardest to replace
The best VST I could find was Sugarbytes Drum computer, but I thought it was over priced so I didn't buy it. Geist 2 looks great but is abandonware now I think.
I mostly use an Arturia Beatstep pro now. It handles Polymeter very well and I love using it. It doesn't have Probability per step but you can do generative sounding stuff by offsetting the timings of each pad and it does have a nice randomess algorithm. I think the Novation Circuit and Electron Model : devices can do probability and send midi out.
