Amen.
I don't know why Presonus has to go after every trend. If you want to launch clips, there's way better DAWs for that?
Just like with synths, it seems like every wants to have Frankenstein DAWs now...
Studio One is such a nice DAW because it's streamlined, not because they managed to implement every thinkable feature.

Regarding clip launchers in general, my opinion is they are easily hidden, because - usually - it's a separate screen with dedicated controls, whereas in Reaper or Cubase you can click anywhere (or go to Settings) and there's pages & pages of options and features that you just can't avoid looking at and having to go through to get to what you actually want.
By the same token I'm only very slightly bothered with S1's Show Page because they've dedicated precious development time to it instead on something I want

I have little need for a "clip launcher. I never use someone else's "clips, I compose my own.
For that I like to use a "clip recorder". Live has a superb example of this genre in its session view.
A "clip recorder" can make recording a simple song composed of various lengths of looped bars a piece of cake. Sure, the same thing can be done in a linear DAW, but its just more fun using a "clip recorder".
Why anyone would not want such a useful feature in their DAW is baffling to me. Whats not to like ?
And if anyone wants proof of how unobtrusive a "clip recorder\launcher " can be, look no further than Logic. Its there if you want it, but it does not get in the way if you have no need of it.

Clips are useful and I respect anyone that needs/wants them, it's just not for me, that's how/why I started using Ableton back in the day but I don't need it anymore for the studio.
For me personally what's no to like about is the development time spent, while really important features are left behind or half implemented and long time feature-requests still pending. Different people different needs, am I the right one? far from it.
If I was asking Bitwig to add every PT mixing/editing features and all the Cubase/Logic Midi tools and notation, it would be nice but I don't think most of the Bitwig community would agree with me for that direction of development.
I consider it a huge feature to be added to S1 but in the cost of other big addition candidates are left behind. If I was asking for Ableton to remove it would be for sure absurd (although I would prefer a better mixer option for it
I don't say they shouldn't do it, or that I will stop using S1, I'm just sharing some thoughts that bother me.

Don't worry about it... threads just go sideways sometimes. Overall, imo, there is too much concern with being 'right' and often a shoot first and maybe ask questions later tendency.GNXT wrote: Tue Mar 09, 2021 12:16 pm Guys, I just expressed my opinion, I know I'm not a regular forum-head guy, so if I expressed my self wrongfully I'm sorry.![]()
If you hang out here, it is inevitable to end up in muck sometimes. Welcome to KVR

I find it hard to imagine music that does not use "clips". For me a "clip" could be 16 bars long if I wanted it to be. Maybe people are stuck with the idea of a "clip" being one bar long or so.GNXT wrote: Tue Mar 09, 2021 2:35 pm

As for development time being spent on this feature. Logic and DP already have it, and it begs the question of when the rest will have to include it to keep up or get left behind. I have stayed with version 4 because there is nothing to interest me in version 5, but a clip recorder either in Cubase or Studio One would make me reach into my wallet. Horses for courses I guess.

And just another perspective: I skipped 4 and tried out Cubase and landed on Reaper because Studio One 3 to 4 did nothing for me. Whereas version 5 has covered a lot of my wishlist items. Like literally: I had peppered the Feature Requests forum with items around V3 and a lot of my personal items have since been incorporated. So from my perspective, 5 has been a big one.dellboy wrote: Tue Mar 09, 2021 2:54 pm I have stayed with version 4 because there is nothing to interest me in version 5, but a clip recorder either in Cubase or Studio One would make me reach into my wallet. It's nice to skip a version though. You get double the fun. Just think of how much you'll have to explore if you only jump back on board at Studio One 6!

Why does this feel like a whole number upgrade release party that's about to start?
