If one has FF ProQ3, does one really need other EQs?

One does.

Not unless you want something that models nonlinearities of analog hardware (not something everyone wants or needs). As long as you have one eq that does linear phase, minimum phase, lots of phase , and dynamic bands that has a gui you enjoy using you should be fine for any equalizing you wanna do. I have lots and they are mostly very similar.
I do enjoy interesting distortion on input/ output/ filter circuit stages, but it isn't something that is needed for adjusting the frequency content of a signal which is all an eq does.

Depends. If "one" wants to share it with "two" then "one" must have another license.

no you don't 'need' another lol... but want is a terrible thing indeed lol

my rule of thumb is... i do surgical (cuts) with a digital (clean) EQ and i use a flavored EQ to add (boost) and there are some nice analog emulations out there to choose from as in flavors. but there is no sense in using a flavored EQ for cutting unless you just want the saturation (transformer) or the preamp sound addition imo. cheers

You probably don't need another digital EQ, but you might like something with a bit more character like an analog modelled/emulated Pultec style plugin or something like Acustica Audio Diamond Colour for mid and top end. No one can really tell what you want/need, you just have to try them out for yourself and decide whether you like their character or not.

OP, I'd be looking to boost my EQ plugin folder with some carefully chosen offerings from the Acustica Audio catalogue. There is something special about those AA EQs that I can't get from my Pro-Q. Ever since I discovered AA EQs, I tend to use Pro-Q only for cutting. I have a few go-to AA EQs for mix duties, and a few for mastering. The CPU hit can be huge, and there are workflow issues but I'm fine with that as the sound is definitely worth it. The only thing is, if you haven't been exposed to AA plugins, it can be overwhelming at first due to the sheer number of products on offer.

Mileages vary, personal habits and preferences should be sole decision-making factor, not some rando on a forum who basically just wants to impress you with how clever they think their choice of favourite toys is.

Different EQs handle transients different than others, some (like the Weiss EQ MP from Softube) retains the transients better than some other EQs. Good way to test it is to listen at lower volume something with a lot of transients (like a drum loop maybe), and to make sure the curves are identical use Plugin Doctor, and then once you get the curves to be identical in PD, you copy the presets / settings on to your DAW session.

Post

Softube Weiss EQMP feels almost like a saturator how it brings out transients like magic. Crave is a really good eq but it sounds soft compared to the Weiss.

Need, no! It's already one of the upper class EQs. But for variety it's always good to have an alternative. I wouldn't buy into the ones you've mentioned. But some pultec or manley massive for coloring would be a good choice.

For a fast clean surgical quality EQ with lots of features Fabfilter excels. You don't need either of the other two imo.

DMGs EQuilibrium is the only one that rivals it (might even pip it).

Softube's Weiss EQ1 is probably my favorite mastering EQ.

What I'm basically saying is - You're golden with FF Pro-Q3. :)

The question also makes sense the other way round. Do you need Pro-Q3 if you already have some EQs, especially the ones in your DAW?
I almost exclusively use the EQ in my DAW (Cubase) which is excellent. For mastering, I use an M/S EQ (bx_digital). I have some special emulations from PA (Bax, Millennia, Lindell 80 (Neve) and will certainly add some more) and Pultec emulations (Blackrooster) because they all cover a special range.
The Pro-Q3 is a really great EQ but I don't need it.

If your stock EQ has phase modes, all the filter types, offers an analyzer, adaptive eq, dynamic eq, collision detection, the solo listening mode, m/s and such I guess you're right
I'd also recommend watching Dan Worralls video about "is your stock eq as good as 3rd party (e.g. pro q)" and same for the stock compressor.

If you want to travel from A to B, you can of course also do it in a hovercraft. But usually a car is enough ;)
Of course M/S or dynamic EQs are sometimes very interesting (e.g. for mastering) but I wouldn't say that you can't live without such an EQ.
I remembered this video by Nat Raubenheimer ("Protoculture"), which is also quite interesting in this context
