Hm.. There's a lot of talk on GS about this and some are speculating that it will go full sub (due to a recent post from Izotope) - So updates may not be available to owners of their plugs without subscribing. I really hope that's not true!

Anyway, I've never really been opposed to the sub per se, but at the same time I'd never subscribe to a company for audio stuff. I just wish they'd always keep the option to buy. However, If Izotope go that 'full sub' route, then I'll just use what I have until it breaks. But I won't be doing business with them in the future.

Everything can be replaced at any rate. And if a lot of these larger companies start to go the full sub route, then it may have a lot of benefits for the smaller companies (as a lot of us still like to own our own plugs).

Anyway, I guess we will have to just 'watch this space'. :(

I heard this too and I agree and hear you... I have all of their software already. Latest versions currently. I will not be paying more for what I already own only for compatibility updates and a few small features. When it breaks, I will move on if they go full subscription too. They will lose another loyal customer and I will no longer be able to recommend them. Part of their charm was how consumer friendly their copy protection was along with how amazing their software is. Really sad to hear they are going this route. Thought they were better than this.

I already gave up on them a few years ago.

Yeah man, if they lose their option to buy and only go new features for the sub. I'll drop the like a hot rocket. Exactly what I did to Slate Digital in 2015. :tu:

I guess I will be moving to Voxengo or Toneboosters then, no way I'm gonna buy another Izotope plugin. It was fun while it lasted, but I hate the corporate BS.

Izotope seems to have reached the point at which they care more about themselves than about their customers. I should've kept my money and bought the Voxengo Premium Membership in the end, this seriously sucks.

I bought the Ozone 9 advanced on a sale, so at least I didn't pay the full price. Still, what a waste of money. I love the sound, the workflow and the mastering environment Ozone creates, but the company going subscription model is a big no-no for me. I really hate this.

I feel the same man... Turning you back on customers who invested lots of money in your company is such a shitty thing to do. :(

Oh well, yet another reason to support smaller developers and open-source guys like Airwindows.

Honestly, even if this turns out to be nothing, this still attests to the kind of mindset guys at Izotope have and makes them a lot less trustworthy in the end.

If they were to go full-subscription during this specific period of time, which could potentially turn into a Great Recession 2.0 at any point with people losing jobs as well as their stable sources of income, it would be an extra kind of sh*tty decision.

I used to purchase Adobe suites (CS) and upgrades (purchase to own) every few years. I tried their Creative Cloud (CC) subscription for 1 year when they first came out with it, concluded that I was paying way too much yearly for minor features and updates that I really wasn't putting to use (and that my existing CS packages provided all that I really needed), dropped the CC subscription, and never looked back.

As has already been posted, the discussion is here - viewtopic.php?f=6&t=561945 . Never ceases to amaze me though when I keep reading "well that's the end of me and iZotope then". Permanent licenses have gone nowhere, the subs is purely an option.

Unless you really want it to, nothing has changed.

Absolutely. That's why I haven't bought a product of any kind for over 30 years. Big win for me!
