I do not know what you think, but it should be possible to use RX8 and all the other stuff for the next 3 years in a Windows environment. (The last thing I wanted was resizeable GUI. We got this in V9.) And this is all I am relying on at the moment.

I doubt it. Entering the DAW market now, with 10 or more solid players with already established user bases, is going to take a patient approach that I doubt these companies will be able to take with an investor at their neck.andypryce wrote: Thu Mar 11, 2021 8:08 pm So a new DAW on the horizon with NI instruments and iZotope FX for us mortal DAW freaks.

What seems more likely combinations of existing products. Think Spire interfaces built into Maschine+. Mega bundles consisting of Komplete and MSP4. If this were to be a subscription product, my guess is they charge something around 50 to 60 Euros.

I can't imagine why you're not stocking up on arms after this announcement that two companies are going to carry on doing what they've been doing but under one administrative umbrella.

My opinion only. This is the end of sales and anything positive apart from a good product at full price for permanent license holders. Subscription seems to always equate to a massive f**k you to anyone that doesn't want to go the subscription path.

Sorry, but Plugin Alliance development for example proves your doomed opinion wrong.

half-assed releases, purged tickets, reused code, absolutely no innovation aside now-and-then buyouts of a smaller dev?martinjuenke wrote: Fri Mar 12, 2021 10:32 am Sorry, but Plugin Alliance development for example proves your doomed opinion wrong.

You should really read, on what prior statement I wrote my comment. It would have been clearer for the discussion if your quote contained the post I answered on.Ploki wrote: Fri Mar 12, 2021 1:32 pmhalf-assed releases, purged tickets, reused code, absolutely no innovation aside now-and-then buyouts of a smaller dev?martinjuenke wrote: Fri Mar 12, 2021 10:32 am Sorry, but Plugin Alliance development for example proves your doomed opinion wrong.

However I'm not that much engaged in these PA pro and con wars. PA was just an example to illustrate that developments are not that black and white as some here see.

subscription is a cash leash. of course they'll do whatever they can to entice people to subscribe. new features not available in the products when purchased. this two tiers of customers and development is ridiculous.
i use neutron advanced a lot but could drop it if needed. it's fast and convenient when mixing but if they're going to hold back features and bug fixes in favor of subscribers that's a real slap to the face for long time users who've updated through 2 or 3 versions and sent them plenty of money over the years. it's bad form and really is some shitty way to put the squeeze on their users... but i guess that's where they may be headed. we'll see though. fingers crossed they don't get too antagonistic w/these plans.
shrug.

I have Neutron Standard and was about to get Ozone or one of the suites. Not now. I too dropped Adobe for the same reason. Not that they seem to have missed me so plenty of people must be happy with subscriptions.

w/adobe it's a fact of life i guess.. for professionals who rely on photoshop and the adobe suite of applications they didn't have much of an option when subscriptions became the only game in town... the Affinity suite of apps now offer very similar tools at a much more affordable price.SHall1000 wrote: Sat Mar 13, 2021 10:10 pm I have Neutron Standard and was about to get Ozone or one of the suites. i wonder what all the marketing/demographic info says about subscription models in the audio world though. who are they targeting w/this model? or is just a matter of slowly bringing it to life and forcing it on to everyone regardless of any marketing data?
ugh. it's annoying to think about and waiting for it to play it out is anxiety inducing. so, i'll just try to wait it out in the dark.
edit: i sent them an email through the contact form asking for some clarity on what the subscription model means for people who own some of their products.. and if future features, updates etc will be kept behind a subscription paywall even if i own the products.
