As long as subscription plans are monthly based and not yearly based then you just subscribe a few months when you need the software and use it as much as it is needed then you switch to another software and that's it. That way no software house is getting you subscribed for a whole year and you end up paying the bare minimum needed to use the software. Indeed is always worse than owning a perpetual license of anything but they surely don't deserve paying a whole year subscription to use the software even if you can afford it.elxsound wrote: Tue Mar 09, 2021 7:20 pmExactly (on both points)! The rent-to-own model is the only subscription based model that makes any real sense although even on that most software houses then want you to pay too much on software upgrades that aren't free when you ended up getting the perpetual license.

I'm so confused by how IK bundles things
So I have TS 2 MAX from October 2020. Regarding the Sample Tank stuff here is what I already have:
Sample Tank 3
Sample Tank 3 Total Studio Max
Sample Tank 4 SE
Sample Tank 4 CS
If I upgrade to TS 3 Max, will I get additional content compared to what I already have for SampleTank and does this include at least everything I already have? I haven't purchased anything outside the TS 2 Max special I bought last October. So can I delete previous versions of Sample Tank and sounds?
Also, what else do I get that I might not already have?
My price is $299 USD so I'm not sure what I am getting for this?
I did try comparing on the IK site but gave up.
Any help is appreciated.

I guess I'll have to wait thenPeter - IK Multimedia wrote: Tue Mar 09, 2021 4:45 pm Yes, if $200 off the lowest MAXgrade pricing doesn't do it for you, hopefully another product/offer/etc hits you next time. That's a large discount in addition to the MAXgrade, sorry if that doesn't work for everybody except the folks I see using the coupon and MAXgrade since the release. Thank you either way, for your consideration or for your purchase whichever it may have been.
Btw, I don't think 360EUR (tax included) is unreasonable for what I'd get but I gave it some thought yesterday evening (+ checked out the demos) and well, I'd go for it if I could use my 74 jampoints on it (they will probably expire before getting any use, though).
I don't need or even like SampleTank and Syntronic plus expansions (except LA Confidential maybe),
AT5 is fine but not essential. Don't care about MODO anything or the MIXthingie.
Tapes would be really nice (but again, not essential), Sunset Sound and Hammond + Leslie would be very nice. All this makes it worth 200+250 eur to me, not 360.
But it's my, very specific, case.

That is a very helpful link. I missed that one and didn't realize it gives the specific differences between TS2 and TS3. I wrongly assumed it was just an overall what's new link.
Thanks again!

I have Total Studio 2 Max and I also have Sampletank 4 Max. It would be good to somehow be able to convert those to Total Studio 3 Max for a further discount, right now it's showing me $300 to upgrade which of course wouldn't make sense for me.
Also I'd really appreciate if IK can roll out updates / enhancements to some of the existing products way faster. I see tons of new products being pumped out but barely any updates on existing products. For example, Sampletank 4's last update was August of last year.

Probably not selling if they are emailing out additional discounts- I would be interested to know if anyone is getting less than 360 Euros (inc tax) for the upgrade?PointOfDeparture wrote: Sat Mar 13, 2021 12:13 amThey just sent an email that notified me that I'll get an additional discount on my Maxgrade price. Yeah, that's not how IK roll I've discovered after the AmpliTube 5 nonsense rollout (the most confusing drip-feed release I've ever seen). I finally did buy the lowest version (SE) with some Jampoints as I have a lot of packs which get upgraded. I still think their should have been a better upgrade price (I have all expansion packs bar Satriani and Fender2 but my price to SE was the same as everyone else's).rlared wrote: Sun Mar 14, 2021 1:26 am I have Total Studio 2 Max and I also have Sampletank 4 Max. I have lots of other products (like Sampletank, some T-Racks comps and EQs etc.), but I uninstalled them all and only left the Leslie as it's so good. The rest I can do better with other manufacturers and this way I can keep the installer BS to a minimum: I still potentially have to install everything, but I know I only have to keep AT5 and Leslie, delete the rest.
Apart from occasionally buying updates to either of those (and only if it seems worth it) I will never buy any IK product again. Well done IK.

This is the same discount that has been enabled and mentioned (as I've stated in this thread it is in the news since day one and that we've emailed subscribers about). The auto-applied coupon to bring MAXgrade pricing for TS2 MAX users down to 299.99 has been there since day one. I know there's apparently some "wishful thinking" and wild speculation about things not selling well and changing prices but neither is true. Again, this is the same price that was available from day one and I assure you Total Studio 3 MAX (and AmpliTube 5) are doing just fine. Funny enough, there are plenty who think another $/€200 off is a great offer (including the person you quoted).SLiC wrote: Sun Mar 14, 2021 11:56 amProbably not selling if they are emailing out additional discounts- I would be interested to know if anyone is getting less than 360 Euros (inc tax) for the upgrade?PointOfDeparture wrote: Sat Mar 13, 2021 12:13 amThey just sent an email that notified me that I'll get an additional discount on my Maxgrade price. You would qualify for the lowest price available $/€299.99. That's $300 to get a lot of new products that have been added since Total Studio 2 MAX and SampleTank 4 MAX. If that's not a value to you, thank you for your consideration and I hope we have something that tickles your fancy next time.rlared wrote: Sun Mar 14, 2021 1:26 am I have Total Studio 2 Max and I also have Sampletank 4 Max. Thank you. As I had mentioned to others, this discount was available since day one per the news and the emails we've been sending out regularly to our newsletter subscribers. Glad to see you received the newsletter and it captured your interest. Thank you very much for grabbing Total Studio 3 MAX and I hope you enjoy it immensely.PointOfDeparture wrote: Sat Mar 13, 2021 12:13 amThey just sent an email that notified me that I'll get an additional discount on my Maxgrade price. With Tax its 360 Euros which is 430 USD...
Even without tax 299 Euros is 360 USD!
1 USD doesn't equal 1Euro!
