NI-zotope+. i'm guessing this will just be some NI products rolled into Izotope's already existing membership producer's club thing. or some evolution of that.

Glad most in this thread are not in product development.... severe lack of vision.

well, i think people's expectations of what NI/iZotope might do vs a vision of what might be possible are going to be different things. this just speaks to how much of a let down some people may have experienced by developers. perhaps it's just pessimism vs. optimism.

and we're talking about a private equity firm aren't we?

As someone who appreciates the Softube modules in Guitar Rig, I can only imagine this will be a good thing. Actually, maybe Native Instruments could get Iris back in development.

Oh please. I’ve worked for large companies and small companies and in the end they’re just filled with a bunch of people. If you think a company like Native Instruments is a cancer on this world, you should have a look at companies like Monsanto, who actually make cancerous chemicals and lobby politicians to look the other way. I’d hardly call any company that makes music tools evil, even if they are trying to get you to buy things you probably don’t need. If you can’t stop yourself from buying the next shiny object, perhaps the issue isn’t with the shiny object maker. Do I waste money on stuff that I don’t get a lot of use out of? Sure. I bought MSoundFactory when it was still in beta, made a few patches on it, a handful of jams using it, and then really just ignored it until now and it looks completely different... I barely recognize it. I’ll probably start digging into it now, but if I don’t... well, I look at it like entertainment. I got a week worth of fun messing around with a synth for the cost of taking my family out for sushi. Man, I miss taking my family out for sushi.

McDonalds doesn’t have a number of “best-in-class” items on its menu. Native Instruments does.

This is what current NI reminds me :) Today they are like Yamaha PSR range in nineties. Huge variability of products, but within their own plastic digital aesthetic world. Endless soudpacks and synths which sound the same. Fortunately there are still some niche exceptions, like Kontakt sample libraries, mostly done by 3rd party.
