people often expect the worst, get stressed out over maybes and speculation.
as it stands, nothing has changed if you use their products.
I wonder why they released that statement without any details at all. It looks like they wanted to see people speculating or simply didn't think that through properly. Strange move.
This could be the beginning of a public beta test you say? Maybe this is the starter kit for creating their own version of the Behringer Music Tribe?

I think someone over there in Germany might be a little bit jealous.
But, this is all just speculation...

Music Tribe, parent company to Behringer, Midas, Turbosound, TC Electronic, TC Helicon, Bugera, Tannoy, Lake, Klark-Teknik, Lab.gruppen and others, has entered into a ‘Super Partner’ arrangement with online MI/pro audio retailer Sweetwater.
It may or may not be related, but it sure seems to be influencing the industry as a whole...

pretty sure izotope just went subscription.

What I understood from the announcement is, there will be a new brand coming out of this partnership with new applications, plugins or whatever they are planning. NI and iZotope companies will be separate as usual. Since both companies covers FX and Instruments pretty well only candidate is a DAW of some sort and with that I believe NI is depending on iZotopes AI knowledge. Might even be something for hobbyists :)

I can see them adding some new collaborative efforts on reverbs, etc. But, in the end it's just more of the same under a different GUI. You can only make Komplete 14 so appealing, maybe they're counting on some new innovative and uniquely creative devices out of this partnership/tribe.

Until they get the itch to expand into hardware instruments... and why stop there, maybe dabble in some modular devices. Then they might continue to add and expand their entire catalog instead of just digitally.

Because to be honest, Komplete has looked pretty stale for a while, because it's hard to improve on top notch stuff that's already there. Thus, enter stage left...

something else just hit me, massive 2 GUI fits very well with izo.

Hopefully this means izotope ditches iLok so I will buy their stuff, or it could mean NI adopts iLok :help:

I just need Komplete to go on sale soon so I can use a bunch of libraries I bought that requires the full version of kontakt.

Is it true that izotope still sells perpetual licenses but no garantuee of bug fixes/ updates ...?
Iow , subscription is the only way to get regular updates

Izotope doesn't require iLok

The Exponential Audio Reverbs they aquired require it, but that's all, even that is supposed to change.

Creating a new brand is usually the most desperate option. As if their employees are not stressed enough already.

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh I think I missed some really good sales! I am an idiot!

My roommate has some of the exponential stuff and I ASSUMED that izotope used iLok too since they own exponential!!!

If exponential moves off iLok you'd better believe I'll be copping those plugs. They sound awesome.

They are soft ilok anyway, so no biggy- but the iZotope Licence manager is much better.
X32 and 24C mixers, S88MK3, Live + PUSH 3, Osmose, RedShift 6, Pro3, S4, Tempera, Syntakt, Digitone, OP1-F, OPXY, TR-1000, Eurorack, TD27 Drums, Guitars, Basses, Amps and of course lots of pedals!

i sent them a message through their contact form to ask for clarification on this. i think the more people who ask them this question via the contact form the more likely it is we'll get some clarity on what their subscription model means for existing users who've supported them for a long time by buying updates through several versions.

All of these moves they're currently making are nothing new. In fact, the king of subscriptions himself, Slate, also had to attract 3rd party developers to expand their subscription offerings. Such as, reverb experts over at LiquidSonics, to come up with their VerbSuite.

I think company subscription models are trying to cover all aspects of the audio world, so that their subscription seems to be the most complete and worth the money. If they are missing some technologies, etc., they just make them collaborative partners and form new revenue streams.

I think everyone is currently positioning themselves for what they think the future will be... Unfortunately for them, it's up to the consumers to decide with their wallets.
