I am looking at this, trying the demo - it is on special - and seems to have a lot of potential. I am not sure about the workflow and how much actual variety in sound generation there is tho - ie does everything end up sounding the same no matter what source you feed into it or can it make wildly different sounds depending on the input.
Also I am not sure how the workflow will go.
Is it a drag to have to design an image in one program and then import it into Kaliedoscope?
And - how much longevity is there in this company / program?
And - how easy it it to thin the output - I see they claim you have complete control over each of the resonators, but it does not seem at all easy to thin those resonators out - so that say only 1,7,13-20 are sounding at the moment. Is this not at all possible?
And - I dont seem to be able to import tuning files at all

It needs updating really badly, it’s totally unusable for me here on Big Sur.

I think the company has given up on it and it may be a risky purchase.

I hope I’m wrong as I have the entire bundle...

thanks, that is a real shame as they seem a very interesting ambitious group. I am on Win10 so the Big Sur problem does not affect me but still relevant indicator of resource problems for them - what a huge dev effort to keep up with those sorts of changes.

it has some nice sweet spots but i find it a very complex way to generate comb filter sounds. i wish they'd update it to expand its range because it's quite powerful but the one trick pony vibe is strong for me. ymmv of course and it may fit well w/what other people do but it sadly hasn't been very useful to me. i have a faster computer now though so should probably give it a spin and see how it goes.

i find their B2 reverb much more useful for sound design. i absolutely love the B2 for so many reasons.

thanks - I have a stack of reverbs, including adaptiverb which I like a lot, what does B2 do that attracts you for sound design?

it's just deeper than other reverbs. it can be resonant.. sound like metal sheets.. pump like a compressor.. it's worth downloading and going through the presets with a drum loop. it's really alien. often feels like a weird feedback network. it's much more than a reverb.

thanks, might give it a go depending on the Kaleidoscope outcome -

apples and oranges though. do spend some time w/Kaleidoscope though if you're thinking about it. B2 is amazing though.

Breeze 2.5 in combination with Precedence is awesome and comparatively light on the CPU.

not really interested in another reverb - my goto reverb at the moment is Inspirata, best thing I have ever tried for putting sounds into an actual space. Adaptiverb is good as an effect, I like that a lot as well. Kaleidoscope is something else again, but would love to be able to hear more aspects of the tuning system before I fork out so much money

B2 is a reverb as well. I just use Breeze much more often, that's why I brought it up. I also have Kaleidoscope and really like it. But maybe not for everyone. Not sure why you cannot import tuning files, it should work. I did create a few myself and tried to get into the programming of them, but eventually I upgraded to the everything bundle (whatever it's called) and subscribed to Simon's Patchpool and now I feel like I have more tuning files and Kaleidoscope content than I can ever need. But the tuning is very deep also with all the different tuning modes.

Also I'm not really sure what's going on over at 2CAudio. Their stuff has been on a sale since forever I believe. I remember seeing messages that the sales are always about to expire and I think I got an email that said the sales would be over in January, yet here we are. But $125 for Kaleidoscope is a pretty good price imo, I paid more. Although I must admit that I'm not using it as much as I'd want to.

thanks - I have emailed them about the tuning but I am pretty sure I will buy it - with the Galbanum extension. Unless they dont answer the email. I would be disappointed if they stopped development but even if they do I am on WIndows so should be able to get 5 years or more from it anyway

I'm repeating myself, but I just feel like Kaleidoscope should absolutely have functionality to create and customize tuning files within the program, on the fly. It would be a lot cooler if it did.
