Stir the pot? Someone said they would be going iLok, which is a factless rumour, which has no actual base (if that isn't stirring the pot, then I don't know what it is).
Even if I would quote some Steinberg reps now, someone would say that it's all lies. Amirite?

I hate to disullusion you but you are no longer dealing with Charlie Steinberg, but with a multi national corporation. Just have a look at yesterdays anouncement which was the usual corporate non-speak...........chk071 wrote: Sat Mar 20, 2021 2:25 pm I don't know who spread this rumor, but, no, they won't change to iLok.
They said more than once now that they develop their own platform. I know, they're a bunch of liars who can't be trusted, and stuff, and lie all day long to use poor users, but, that's what they said.
"Implementing new license management technology does not entail abandoning our perpetual license model. Rather, it means improving your customer experience and making way for new opportunities"

Well... sorry to burst your bubble, but, we have 4 or 5 companies like that in my 10.000 population one horse town. They don't refer to the name "multi national corporation" though, rather to "medium scaled enterprise".dellboy wrote: Sat Mar 20, 2021 2:41 pmI hate to disullusion you but you are no longer dealing with Charlie Steinberg, but with a multi national corporation.chk071 wrote: Sat Mar 20, 2021 2:25 pm I don't know who spread this rumor, but, no, they won't change to iLok.

And, I don't know what Charlie Steinberg has to do with all this. Or why that all would prove that everything that comes from them is a lie.
Or why some spread the rumour that they go iLok now.

As far as they stated (I know, it's all lies...), they're still in the planning phase. At least that's what they stated a week ago or so.RobinWood wrote: Sat Mar 20, 2021 2:44 pm Sounds like they still havn't written a single line of code, but definitely know what it won't be. Makes senseI'll wait for a prototype before taking any word for it.
If you guys are interested (in more lies), you should really take a look at the Steinberg forums.

Commenting on what?
The thread with discussion about the new licensing system was open for a couple of days, until it became a general discussion about who prefers which copy protection. And a lot of dongle fetishists on a crusade, which I didn't quite understand. But then, I don't have to understand everything.

Who said anything about lying ?chk071 wrote: Sat Mar 20, 2021 2:45 pm

I am merely pointing out that at one time Charlie made all the executive decisions but now they have to be made by a commitee. Hence "corporate speak".
" it means improving your customer experience and making way for new opportunities"
What a load of corporate nonsense speak.

What else should they tell the people who think world war 3 will break out now that they drop the dongle?dellboy wrote: Sat Mar 20, 2021 2:53 pmWho said anything about lying ?chk071 wrote: Sat Mar 20, 2021 2:45 pm

It has now become clear that like myself, a large number of people want to keep the dongle. I do not want an online internet checking experience. Why should I be pleased that I have to throw the dongle in the dustbin ?chk071 wrote: Sat Mar 20, 2021 2:58 pm

You don't know what the new system will be like. And, you don't know how many people want to keep the dongle.dellboy wrote: Sat Mar 20, 2021 3:03 pmIt has now become clear that like myself, a large number of people want to keep the dongle. What we both know is how many people complain here and elsewhere about copy protection dongles, though.
