Licensing is exactly for the UVI Workstation case. You can sell presets otherwise without licensing, but they would only work in Falcon, not UVIW.pierb wrote: Fri Mar 19, 2021 8:19 pm Anyone knows how the licensing of third party libraries for Falcon works?
Can you just sell Falcon presets without paying a fee to UVI? Would those preset also work on UVI Workstation?

I exactly want them not to share a filter.EvilDragon wrote: Fri Mar 19, 2021 8:06 pm You can simply use multiple oscillators within a single keygroup, then they share the filter and so on. Not really a huge problem tbh.

I really don't think either of you play to Falcons strength at all. I've always thought of sound design in Falcon as a modular approach, start with a sound or oscillator module and build from there, with no linear path in mind. If I was to approach Falcon from the point of view of "now we do subtractive analog" etc. I would probably be disappointed too, since there are hundreds of competent analog software synths out there. The semi modular approach and modulation capabilities alone make it worth it to me alone, and the fact that most UVI libraries can be tweaked heavily in Falcon is icing on the cake.PieBerger wrote: Fri Mar 19, 2021 7:27 pmIf this is how you think in terms of sound design, personally I think Falcon will likely be disappointing, as it was for me for the same reason. It really is a shame that there isn't any kind of demo, you could just try it and find out for yourself.vertibration wrote: Fri Mar 19, 2021 2:47 pm Its very tempting to get Falcon 2, but I always go back to "Cant I just do this faster, and more efficiently in another synth?"

Why am I not surprised: https://www.virharmonic.com/dev_update
Virharmonic dropping Falcon/Workstation in favour of the Gorilla-Engine for their Bohemian Cello, Viola, Violin series...
Interesting times.
Cheers,
Tom

Bruh.....of coarse someone could deep dive and do cool shit in Falcon, but efficiency and speed are pretty important in my book. Im still thinking about it, and might pick it up before the sale is over. I don't know yet.machinesworking wrote: Sun Mar 21, 2021 7:26 pmI really don't think either of you play to Falcons strength at all. It all depends on what you need for sure. I would rate Falcon as a desert island sampler/synth. I'm into tweakability over "efficiency and speed". I would pick Falcon over Omnisphere for instance, even though Omnisphere has a massive library and is tailored like NI's Komplete Kontrol with ease of "sound design" in mind. If sound design means tweaking existing patches to taste to you.vertibration wrote: Sun Mar 21, 2021 11:16 pm Bruh.....of coarse someone could deep dive and do cool shit in Falcon, but efficiency and speed are pretty important in my book. I bought into it through owning MachFive 3, which was more of a granular synth and Kontakt competitor. Falcon added in all the synth engines and dozens of extra FX. Personally I find it's just a lot more fun to throw a sample in Falcon than any other instrument I own. Only a few other samplers etc. have the modulation capabilities as well, maybe Bitwigs built in Grid, Sampler, and modulation.

That's a fair appraisal and it says more about my own preferred way of working, than the quality of the synth. I wish I did like it more and since I only lost the iLok fee from selling it on, I don't really regret the experience, least of all because it cemented in that I'm just not a mega synth kind of guy. I like simple tools that I can get good results with quickly and Falcon is just not good for that imo.machinesworking wrote: Sun Mar 21, 2021 7:26 pmI really don't think either of you play to Falcons strength at all. I'm happy that other people can enjoy using it though

Yes, that's annoying. As is the constant uninstallation of Bonjour after every update. And the unnecessary iLok update that also is included free of charge.rasmusklump wrote: Sat Mar 20, 2021 4:59 am On the newest version the menus still aren't visible on Win 10 20h2

I just find Wusic Station 9 is under sale, and according to manual, it has uniq synth method called "wave sequence".
Can Falcon do same thing? It's simple. Crossfading different sample playback layers across timeline.
I can not find similar patch in Falcon.
Nearest is using DADSR delay to delay few layers. But is can not loop, and adjusting timing is very difficult.
Any ideas to implement this in Falcon?

No, unfortunately not. I have also asked for it a few times. The only possibility would be to practice with Luna yourself, but I don't think anyone can do that. I hope it will be implemented in an update soon.NoriSato wrote: Wed Mar 24, 2021 6:26 am I just find Wusic Station 9 is under sale, and according to manual, it has uniq synth method called "wave sequence".

You should be able to do it with scripting tbh.
