SUCH a dumb limitation from a company that excels in making interesting MIDI FX inside their other products. At least we get dragging MIDI out with this new thingy; maybe they're waking up a bit about MIDI and will surprise us all sometime soon.
Anything and everything about MIDI - arp, mapper, mangler, generator, chorder, controller, utility, fx etc.

Yeah, that would be great. The lua scripting in Falcon is really good and the Euclidian devices in the later version show what's possible, but without Midi out, it's always a bit limited in scope.
Drag and drop is a step in the right direction indeed...
UVI should really up their game, Virharmonic just posted that they are dropping Falcon/Workstation as a platform for their bohemian series and go with the Gorilla Platform...
Samples load too slow, too much memory, no memory sharing, no scaleable interfaces for libraries...
Cheers,
Tom

Agreed. FWIW I DID spring for Quadra, and I like it, but I am a sucker for UVI (and plucks). The way MIDI drag and drop works is that you hit a record button, play your notes, stop the record, then drag and drop. This is on the Arpeggiator page, so it is per single voice (of four). I have played with the Euclidean and arp scripts in Falcon before Quadra, and while they are fun and powerful, I would no way recommend this only for MIDI play. Note that UVI Drum Designer also has MIDI drag and drop, but you can drop the pattern without recording, since they are fixed notes.David wrote: Wed Mar 24, 2021 7:21 pmSUCH a dumb limitation from a company that excels in making interesting MIDI FX inside their other products. Too many DAWs and plug-ins

I nearly bought Quadra, but the reminder that you can’t get MIDI out stopped me. I also have a fair few Kontakt libraries that could be tweaked to do a similar job like Cracklefield and Riff Generation and I know it won’t get a lot of use because they don’t as your ear soon works out the ‘tricks’ involved. It’s not really anything you couldn’t knock up yourself with a half decent arp/sequencer like I have in HY-MPS2 and Blu Arp and some decent samples and effects. Not knocking it as it seems to sound great and I’m sure helps if you have a need for a workflow to produce something quickly.

I wonder if that "record" button allow you to record ALL of the midi effect into a drag and drop midi file?WatchTheGuitar wrote: Wed Mar 24, 2021 10:04 pm I nearly bought Quadra, but the reminder that you can’t get MIDI out stopped me. I’d want to be able to audition patterns in place going into a MIDI channel, not keen on dragging out.
Don’t mind it as much for drums, but that’s because the sounds tend to die much quicker with little bleed.

I will consider Quadra when it is given a midi output.
Then wait eight months for the hopefully -50% black Friday sale.

Here's a sweet little Arp/Seq for iOS that reminds me a lot of Phrasebox:

I like the “midi manipulation” I believe is in the Composition tab. I understand that RC has more features but it is the midi Variations I see in the video that I am most interested in at least for the moment.
I do wonder what other plugin/stand-alone has as similar capability.

I haven't found anything with very similar variations, but there are a few others that offer different yet still extensive variation powers using existing MIDI, such the HGSounds MIDI looper currently being discussed, and the reMIDI MIDI sampler, discussed here a few weeks ago.
I expect the original question was about getting some of the same effects in RC without having to wait for a sale or spend so much. Sorry, still "no" to that (hope I've missed something!). But these two other much less costly options are almost as powerful and lots of fun, plus much simpler and more real-time than RC. I find all three to be essentials, in MY MIDI-FX library, anyway:)

Upgrade from 3 to 4 doesn't appear to be reduced. Will check.
Edit: No sale on upgrade.

I've had version 2 since February and don't think it was a paid upgrade as I recall.
Latest version is 2.0.2.

Hi folks.
I've updated SM MIDI Arpeggio. Now the device can manipulate notes without discarding new data introduced with Ableton Live 11: MPE, note probability, velocity deviation and release velocity.
