Worst Hardware Multi-FX That Deserve Emulation?

I've got to believe that the vast majority of the guts of that have already been emulated, no? Is there even any routing in there at all? I think that I've only ever seen one in the flesh.

Related question to this thread. I wonder what is the most underrated DSP based multi-fx box from the 90s/00s? It of course has to be super cheap.

I remember seeing endless variations on Digitech and Art boxen, and then I don't. It's like the craze just ended.

I had an Alesis Nanoverb 25 years or so ago. I can’t actually remember whether it was crappy, maybe from today’s point of view, back then I thought it was ultra cool. And it was 18bit!! Whatever that meant...
Of course it was the only FX unit I owned back then so I had no comparison. But boy did I produce some crappy music with that and my Porta07...

Not that I've seen. And, the UE400 was actually a decent effects unit. No routing though! Which I think was it's critical weak spot.

Not that I've seen. And, the UE400 was actually a decent effects unit. No routing though! Which I think was it's critical weak spot.

What I meant was that I think that unit is largely existing Ibanez guitar pedal designs chained together, possibly without some of the gain stages? I could be wrong, but I'd bet money that the schematics are online. If it is, one could do a reasonably good knockup in the DAW.

I don't know if they've restored the feature, but, in 32 bit synthedit, you could host VSTs in your creation. Jeff was concerned about piracy, which doesn't make sense to me TBH, so it was removed from the 64 bit version. In any case, it was a great tool to easily build up your own plugins in some cases. I think that this would be an ideal case if my assumption is correct about its internals.

Actually if we're going to include guitar multi FX here's a unit that needs to be emulated. I've never found anything in hardware or software that sounds as good as its rectified amp sim. I wouldn't give my J Station up but a spot on emulation would be an instant buy for me.

Oh, guitar multi-fx are definitely on the menu. The GSP-5 that I opened the thread with is a rack mount guitar box.

It's funny, I never really cared for most of the models in the J-Station. My favorite ones were actually the Johnson custom models, as well as the bass models.

I had one of those for a year or two. I think I remember thinking the fuzz was cool in its own weird/wrong way. I can't remember much else about it other than your control over each effect was limited and I wasn't impressed enough to keep it.
