There's a big hole that needs to be filled?

This isn't exactly what I was talking about, but it has some signs of it. I think there's a lot of modular hardware that can be easily translated into fun and creative plugins. I'm not sure everyone is into modular, but a lot of their results stem from sequencers. This is where a super sequencer could play a bigger role in the DAW arena. Maybe even a Rack Extension or Reason Rack device, since a lot of people already own it.

there's a lot of sequencers in reaktor, probably other modular software too.
using these in an environment like bidule, opens up all kinds of possibilities

as well as all the previous sequenced fx mentioned, with a bit of work, surely this fills your hole?

Sounds like a lot of setup and work, I'm pretty sure they haven't even touched a lot of the mentioned ideas. But, I'm sure with some work and creativity though, you can create pretty much any device you're willing to put the work in for. That includes all the years of knowledge, experience and coding.

The problem is, a lot people don't want to build the stuff, they just want to use it. And a lot also prefer a simple user friendly GUI that functions quickly and easily, so they can play and manipulate in real time.

There's two side of the music making process, the technical and artistic... This is where developers come in. They could even add a tone generator, sine, triangle, saw, etc., along with the ability to feed it samples, audio, midi, cv or anything else you want. Then using the super sequencer as more of an instrument, you could construct melodies, etc.

I think a super sequencer would be a big hit, but who knows...

that's where the ul comes in.
there are many prebuilt devices, and by set up it's no different than setting up any other vst instruments or fx

it can be more complicated and deeper, if that's your thing. ive never coded in my life and find reaktor easy enough to operate :)

This thread was more interesting when it was laughing at itself from the gutter.

There is nothing in this thread that isn't just basic application of prebuilt modules with routing in the latest reaktor. People have been doing the sorts of things described in this thread since the earliest days of reaktor. There are god knows how many little weird sequencer bits and bobs in the UL. A lot of the early Reaktor synths focused on these kinds of internal sequencer triggered modulations.

that's what im saying!
clever people have done the work, if i can use it, anyone can!!!

ive done very basic additions, extra controls, changed out filters here and there, but leave anything deeper to smarter folks :tu:
even making specific requests to builders at times, in much the same way people do with vst devs :)

Yes, I was addressing this comment "I'm pretty sure they haven't even touched a lot of the mentioned ideas"

Um, yes, they have.

There's nothing here that isn't simple, trivial even. There are ENTIRE INSTRUMENTS devoted to these ideas. There is an ENTIRE CATEGORY in the factory library called "Sequenced Instruments." I suggest spending a few months exploring the library.

It will probably make more sense when all these types of devices start coming out...

It's only a matter of time until the DAW environment becomes more integrated into the hardware and modular environment. In fact, Bitwig has already taken the reins on this, and is doing a pretty good job. And of course, Reason with their rack plugin has only moved the bar even closer.

So it seems to me, that there's a large hole yet to be explored, that not only tries to mimic each other, but brings the added computer processing power to do all the technical management of the traffic jam. Meanwhile, leaving the artists to do what they do best...

for years I have thought that a contest for the most elaborate work arounds that produce the least results would be fun :hihi:

Hmmm... imagine AI analysis detecting different types of musical "tension"... within a melodic phrase, or chord pattern, or rhythmic pattern.. or even lyrics. And you being able to use this to trigger sonic events that heighten the tensions.. or hint at resolution or ????

Probably self induced and lack of imagination...
