always the same crap, companies try to convince how much better the subscriptions are and tie you to some (you dont own NOTHING) policy. people love it cause it's COOL to have everything for just 25 bucks ! yeah we so cool and in the end this crap is done by more and more companies, then they move to cloud and their own app, then theycut off legacy products, then you cannot activate any legay products anymore, then all gets digital and products get totally discontinued (pro53 etc) and so on. yeah everything is cooler now with digital stuff, you get nothing only 11111000000010101001010010101 and you get tied to these services.
yeah i am so old school and it is the time for DA NU GENARATION! totallycool and sh*t on the older crap.

Maybe, but I'm not even sure who you were talking to as you didn't quote anyone either. I assumed it was me thoughmartinjuenke wrote: Fri Mar 12, 2021 4:35 pm It would have been clearer for the discussion if your quote contained the post I answered on.

I've read this on gearslutz:
If this is true, it means there is going to be no Ozone 10, just the sub version of Ozone. I haven't seen anybody mention this here, so I'm just posting this for the record, we'll see how it goes.Just got done talking to an Izotope rep via their Facebook page. Their current plan is not to release an Ozone 10, but to provide new features and enhancements to Ozone Pro instead, which will only be available to users via their subscription model (i.e. no Ozone Pro perpetual license purchase option for existing Ozone 9 owners, at least at this time). Ditto for their other products. Quite a shame.

Unpleasant news, if true.

I hope people are really not that dumb enough to sign up for this bulldust. we must not encourage them and give them money. it's the best way.
no, lemme rephrase. it's the only way.

Totally agree with all you wrote.Caine123 wrote: Sun Mar 14, 2021 12:17 am always the same crap, companies try to convince how much better the subscriptions are and tie you to some (you dont own NOTHING) policy. people love it cause it's COOL to have everything for just 25 bucks ! yeah we so cool and in the end this crap is done by more and more companies, then they move to cloud and their own app, then theycut off legacy products, then you cannot activate any legay products anymore, then all gets digital and products get totally discontinued (pro53 etc) and so on. yeah everything is cooler now with digital stuff, you get nothing only 11111000000010101001010010101 and you get tied to these services.

All is going digital, pay and don't own etc..
To make a statement whoever doesn't like it should not support subscriptions {in this case}
I'm glad there are big companies out there
that offer you choices n you can decide what best works for you.
Ps.
I hope in the near future hardware workstation synths will have a video out to plug in a monitor so you can work with them just like with a daw...but hey... wait ...
the software running on such workstations will require......you guessed it.... subscriptions to update firmware etc...
..it's all going digital....

Honestly, if this turns out to be true, then I'm surprised it happened this quickly. I did not expect them to be this overt and shameless about this, it's almost kind of amusing in its brazenness. Let's wait for some official confirmation of this, but er... told you so. You will eat crap, you will own nothing and you will be happy. Acon Digital, Toneboosters and Voxengo, here I come.

I hope native instruments won't join and give users no choice regarding what best works for their users.
It Looks like isotope got lost in the 100s of releases combining all possible software releases together...to simplify they came up with the subscriptions...
Cakewalk came up with the life time upgrades before quitting all together.
Just hoping NI will not step into a sh.. as well. Too Much software stuff out there anyway...too much time waisted choosing what to choose...haha..

The fact that Izotope and NI have apparently joined forces now is not a good sign.
Still kicking myself for buying discounted Ozone 9 Standard, might've as well bought one or two hundred pizzas instead. What a waste.

Like all of us I've bought licenses and upgrades for stuff I've not ended up using so much. Won't be throwing away money on subscription in the same way.
If you're a pro fully using a certain essential tool in an ongoing basis, paying a subs is fine. For lazy folks like me with still so many non-subs options, no way.
to;Dr I don't think Izotope is Adobe level essential for most of us.

You're only indispensible until you can be replaced. I'd hope they decide to keep some kind of perpetual licence option. It feels like both iZoTope and NI have spent the last few years pandering to the bedroom producer and they're the last person that's going to feel like they need these tools enough to get locked into a subscription. The more likely outcome is they'll go off and find alternatives, leaving iZoTope (and perhaps NI) to the professional studios with the budgets to absorb the costs.

And as long as the stuff is irreplacable, something that I'm not sure can be said about Ozone. It sure creates a nice workflow and a nice mastering framework, but is it really unique to the extent that all people are bound to jump onboard? If you're really accustomed to the way it works and have the moolah and patience and all the faith in the Izotope team, then sure, go for it, but even then, I'd look at other alternatives because it doesn't bode well for the company in the long run.

Don't count on it. It would've been simple and quick for them post in this thread, or the ones on GS (which I'm sure they've read), and say "no, we're not dropping perpetual licenses", yet they haven't done so. The silence is deafening.crickey13 wrote: Sat Mar 27, 2021 11:46 am Honestly, if this turns out to be true, then I'm surprised it happened this quickly. I know I'll be picking up TDR plugins instead of updating to MPS4.
