Hmmm... imagine AI analysis detecting different types of musical "tension"... within a melodic phrase, or chord pattern, or rhythmic pattern.. or even lyrics. And you being able to use this to trigger sonic events that heighten the tensions.. or hint at resolution or ????

Computers aren't artists.

Computers are tools we can use to create things. In my suggested product, AI is simply detecting a condition of a signal, and allow you to use that condition to trigger other actions. Very much the same as you might with a gate or compressor. How you choose to vary the type of "tension detection" and how you choose to trigger a subsequent event or processing is up to you.

It is just another creative tool that would offer artistic choices.

Imagine having a variety of "tension maps" along with tempo and such.

This would need to function somewhat like an ARA plug-in like Melodyne.

i can imagine it being useful for many aspects of the creative process, like you say, if we could analyze a piece and get "the feel".
then apply that, like a groove template on drums, to various instruments depending on your needs.
ie im terrible at drum programming i can do electronic stuff fine, but for more human stuff nope! groove templates as they stand are quite limited, to a pre chosen "style/genre".
they still sound, mechanic and obviously programmed.
here's where ai could come in useful, if i can analyze my own chosen songs, and have the computer add "the feel" as a groove template, there would be more of my own choice in the creativity than there is now, and with time i reckon that will start to happen.

ai is great at seeing patterns, recreating them. seems like a good idea to me.
