What do you think it does? It's not a round-robin mode. It just impacts voice stealing with long releases. Pg 12 of the manual:

Are you seeing something in that description that makes you think the plugin behaves differently?

BTW, you had some great patches in your set. Thanks!
I remember reading the manual, and getting the understanding that if I were to play a chord, and then lifted those notes and played others, the first few notes would be muted instantly. Having played Arturia's Jupiters, both v3 and v4, this is the behaviour of Poly-II, but not so in TAL's, atleast for me. Here's a demo, first is Arturia's, then TAL's. https://www.dropbox.com/s/8qrpbim2dzwjs ... e.mp3?dl=0
Also, glad you enjoyed them! :phones:

Hmmm. Maybe send a private message to ToguAudioLine? He might get that sooner than he will see this. And yes, your patches sound great, Realistortion!

I'd definitely report it to Patrick. He's got the hardware and can compare. I just did a similar test against the Roland Cloud Jupiter-8 and it sounded more like the Arturia in your example. Definitely cleaner with prior notes release being cut off for a less muddy/dissonant sound. The Poly II mode in J-8 was much less muddy than Poly I, so it's doing something, but it wasn't as clean as Poly II in the Roland Cloud version or the Arturia version in your example. That said, I won't comment as to which is more accurate without ever having touched the hardware in my life.

Luftrum 24 for TAL J-8
Luftrum wrote: The sounds in Luftrum 24 are inspired by a broad range of synth-driven artists and duos such as Daft Punk, John Carpenter, Vangelis, Perturbator, Steve Roach and The Midnight with presets ranging from soaring mono leads to dreamy pads over dark basses and delicate synth keys. Check out the preset-by-preset YouTube demo below, going through 30 individual presets from the set.
Out of the 148 presets, 40 are designed by Code Elektro, a critically acclaimed synthwave sci-fi artist from Denmark, whose music best can be described as a hard mix between Carpenter Brut, SURVIVE and Tangerine Dream. Code Elektro made an impressive demo using only presets from the set + external drums. listen below.

Until around 2 weeks ago I did not check for new plugins since around 6 months and just got aware of this new Jupiter plugin by TAL.
As a big fan of the Jupiter 8 sound (and having owned the real thing around 16 years ago) this is an interesting plugin for me.
I just installed the demo and will soon compare it to the other Jupiter-8 plugins i already got like Roland Cloud Jupiter-8 (lifetime license), Arturia Jup-8 V3 and the Jupiter-8 modules in U-He Diva. The Roland Cloud System-8 plugin for which i got a license too (unlimited license) includes a Jupiter-8 filter model too.

TAL J-8 costs 79 € here in Germany (incl. VAT) which is not expensive but also not really cheap and recently i had to take much more care where to spend money. Due to that I would only buy this if it is sounding truely outstanding compared to the 3 other Jupiter-8 options i already got here.

Hi Ingo! Long time no see! Welcome back :)

I bought it when it was with intro price. I have never had Jupiter 8 (tried that when I lived in Greece 1992, but it wasn't there anymore, instead the D-50 was the hot cake!). Anyway, I think it is a great synth (for its own sound). I also like Arturia Jup-8 v4 (you should upgrade!). They are both great but I don't know which one is the more authentic (in fact I don't care a lot about it, both sounds great to me).

Waiting for your comparison :)

Does TAL have sales? I might pick this up as well, but, for the current price, it's a bit too much for me.

They do, but they're usually around 15-20% off, not as big as other company sales.

I bought TAL-J-8 last week full price... saving those 15€ wouldn't have made too much of a difference.
I was missing a last-gen vintage-poly-emulation with voice variation, a 12dB filter and MPE.
It was between J8 and Obsession, which is next in line for the same category at this point :drunk:

I think TAL's J-8 has displaced RePro-5 as my favorite software polysynth. RePro-5 has an edge on extreme modulations and effects, but the raw sound of the TAL J-8 just sounds wonderfully lush and detuned to me. I recently got a Prophet-10 Rev 4 and RePro sounds like the hardware Prophet, but the slop and detuning is a bit too polite compared to the hardware. Whereas with J-8, I can get it setup where it's got the same kind of vibe. Different sound of course (the filters are very different tonally), but the detuning and slop and voice variations all just sound wonderfully alive to my ears.
