hey,

yesterday I tried to re-create in music some kinda of strange but beautiful state of mind I happen to experience sometimes. This is what turned out:

chilling out people - I hope you'll like it :-)

Found myself in this state of mind on occasion too.
Nice track Dan_spin, enjoyed!

Enjoyed the track, but found it to be spooky more than chill out.

I have to agree with shamann on that it’s spooky (rather than chilling). The build up that present in the first ±80 seconds is freighting. I have the feeling something is coming at me. even though I can not see it I feel a hand which is just by a few millimeters not touching me around my throat. Not choking me physically but the fear tightness my throat internally. My breathing becomes more short & shallow. Despite that fear clouds the mind I am becoming more aware, my vision becomes sharper and my perceive more details.

I enjoy this song but for example at ±1:26 there is an extremely high beep which much to my displeasure scratches my eardrum. Overall the song sounds a bit dust covered. I don’t know if it was your intention to get such a low-fi-ish sound but I sort of like it. On the other hand it also makes it a bit more draining for me to listen to cause I then have to dig through the dust to pick up the details, but that’s okay.

I like the bell-like-main-instrument that you’ve used. What is that, if I may ask? The sounds of the children are nicely mixed in and give it a spatial feel. It also makes me think back of a time when I passed out and hit my head. I perceived sounds from around me but all felt very remote & detached. Like it was happening in other reality, which it in fact was. That’s also how I experience the voice samples in your song: something happening another level consciousness / being.

The bubbling of the little electronic sounds give it a sort of futuristic organic feel, in my ears at least, which is very cool. Though I do think that they are perhaps a bit sharp.

I’ve been listening to this song 5 times now and all I can do is conclude that I like this song and if it wasn’t for those high frequencies I would play this song more often than that I will play it now.

Thanks for sharing & keep up the good work!

thanks for the feedback!

I find it interesting that almost all of you found it spooky sounding rather than chilling, and especially at the beggining. for me the initial build-up is the very chilling :-)

to austere:

as for high frequencies content...hm...maybe it hit your ears because you can hear frequencies above 17 kHz (which I sadly happen not to hear)

the bell like sound was recorded from hardware synth chameleon/australis, then 3d delays effect was added to it. everything else is software based :-)

by the way what would be your comments on this track:

I seem to be listening to a different track to everyone else - I find it relaxing and not in the least bit scary :D

I like the kids voices in the background - very evocative 8)
The lo-fi feeling works and the glitches gel beautifully with the track as a whole.
It's a very simple piece that I have to see I really like
Good stuff.

Good track and yes it would fit excellently into a horror movie

I find it neither soothing nor spooky... it's rather a mixture of guitar string noises with loads-a-effects lying in a kindergarten which is right next to one of these huge Power-Thingys... well you know with all the cables in the air and the statics

the glitchiness is a bit to hectic for me but I like the rest of the tune....

I like the integration of ambience recordings
