A clever way to get beta tester and presets. Count me in...

Resonators and micro tuning. A poly delay matrix which looks interesting. Physical modelling. I'm looking forward to this one.

I set a rule with myself that I probably won't participate if it's too much effort to microtune the synth. Always nice to see tuning right there on the front panel!

of course, this synth also looks like it will make some fascinating sounds. It's showtime, i suppose.

So, is this the next commercial synthesizer from NUSofting and we'll get a limited-time version? Just to understand...

Post

Just an FYI it looks like on macOS (Catalina or greater) the plugin bundles aren't signed and you might need to do:

Code: Select all

sudo xattr -rd com.apple.quarantine /Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/VST/Sinmad.vst
to get the VST to work, or:

Code: Select all

sudo xattr -rd com.apple.quarantine /Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/Components/Sinmad.component
to get the AU to work (haven't tested the latter, but the first one solved my problem for VST).

Beautiful lush sounds so far! I think we will hear some great tracks from this.

Not clear on how to save presets, it wasn't clear from the manual, I was in the user presets but I get the message "failed to copy preset" when saving. I can close and reopen my project and all custom patch parameters are preserved, so all good with making a track...

BTW I'm using Ableton 10 on Win 10.
"I can't listen to the Ninth anymore at all."

Thanks! Probably I too. So many interesting synthesizers are waiting for deep study... I'm just not into commerce.

DAWs are not recognizing the Sinmad_x64.dll plugin. I'm on WIndows 10 v20H2 and have tried Live, Cubase, and Reaper. Unblocked the file in Explorer. No Sinmad anywhere to be found. :(

Post

I managed to load it in Reaper on Win 10 20H2

I'm in Live 11 on Windows 10 and it's finding it OK. I copied the whole Sinmad folder (which contains the Sinmad_x64.dll) into my 64bit plugs folder and worked first time. Did you try the whole folder (just in case!)

The synth sounds really interesting, lots of possibilities with this thing, cool ideas and sounds.

The reminder nag screen about the time limited demo has got pretty annoying after using it for an hour or so - it is constantly breaking my workflow to the extent I'm considering just giving up sadly :(

Yes! If only you could just click the nag screen to go back to the main GUI. It's quite frustrating while you're in the middle of editing a sound and programming MIDI to have to go switch back to the instrument channel and find the tiny show GUI button again just to continue what you were doing! Certainly don't mind it being time limited, but this could be made so much more pleasant with one (presumably) minor tweak...

Thanks for warning about the nag screen. I was considering participating this month, but just thinking about a message appearing repeatedly on my screen I prefer to wait to see what OSC brings us in the coming months. :tu:

Loads in Reaper on Windows just fine.
