Everything in this arena seems to be abandoned, hasn't been updated in years, or iLok'd.

Huge hole in the market imo but maybe I'm just a weirdo for wanting to synthesize drums instead of using samples.

I mostly use samples inside shortcircuit1 but for drumsynths/machines i use AudioRealism ADM CM, Linn LM-1 (MH Music), Tactile Sounds TS-808 and the TR trio from Marvin VST.

I used to use the daw, and just plug samples into tracks (as some have stated), but I’m so freaking tired of plucking away at daws with a mouse, and I know what I am, there needs to be more then giest available in this arena. I’m done mousing shit.

I find that NI Maschine is really good for me when I am tired of mousing.

The one named Microtonic V3.3 Resources is the skin that will load. You can switch skins by renaming the folders.

Hello, I had no idea there are skins available for Microtonic. I love the synth and want to use the dark one and followed your instructions, but I end up with a blank Microtonic gui:

- I downloaded the zip including the skins from github
- I took the dark0ne skin folder, renamed it to "Microtonic V3.3 Resources" and copied it into the directory where the microtonic dll is located
- I run ableton and start microtonic and its blank

What am I doing wrong? Using Microtonic 3.3.1...

Do I need to do something with that skinchooser script?

Check to make sure there are no sub-folders in your Microtonic V3.3 Resources folder.

Otherwise it looks like you have everything correct.

One thing I’ve started to notice is “synth” and/or flexible sampler VSTs being able to make better drum sounds than any drum machine I’ve heard. But you pay for it with CPU footprint, unless you just resample everything. I like resampling

For resampling have you looked at steinbergs backbone? Its still a bit expensive for my tastes. Unfortunately it doesn't include a sequencer.

I ended up buying Microtonic over the weekend. Always wanted it but never pulled the trigger before. The new skins convinced me it was time. I got to work modifying Dark0ne to a "NotSoDark0ne" and I'm super happy with the product. It truly sounds killer. I don't think I ever even demoed it in the past. Really shoulda bought this thing years ago.

Here's what NotSoDarkOne looks like...
