I'm trying to help somone hook a Roland electronic Drum kit as a midi controller in Fruity Loops .. However all we are able to get it to do is trigger the same sample at several different tones. How can we get each trigger to trigger a different sample ?

Route the notes to a VSTi that plays different samples for different notes and you're done. Any half-decent sample player can do that, SFZ is one of them.

You have to set up key ranges that are only one key wide. Base drum from C4 to C4, snare from D4 to D4, etc. This is how drum sets in soundfonts are arranged.

Thanks , I was going to try that if all else failed but thanks for clarifying for me that it would work.

Yes, once you know each pad sends a different note it would work. Did you try the DrumSynth Live, or isn't it included in your version?

There is a little program for SFZ that allows you to generate a keyboard mapped layout for a collection of samples. It is discussed in the following thread:

Good luck !!
