Vengeful Violin

Post

We left the violin for last, so we could put what we learned making the cello, bass and viola into the member of the family that's most likely to be out front and exposed. (And I can admit that openly, I'm a bassist.) https://karoryfer-samples.myshopify.com ... ful-violin is where you can buy it... yeah, we migrated our store to a new platform, too, and delivery is now via Pulse Downloader, which will hopefully save me time dealing with missing download link mails, and let me speed up making the future instruments.

really like the whole vengeful crew - love the way you have recorded them and the style of the performances

Thanks. If there's one thing I "get" better than most string players it's how to use weird bowed techniques as textures in fairly normal songs, which gives this a different flavor than other extended technique string libraries.

And, well, the violinist is just really good and consistent, too.

Yes. What I most like is to use the Controls (particularly the cyborgs) to design 'synth patches' that have the harmonically rich timbre of real instruments. Those sounds sit in that curious space between familiar and strange....

Well, I got into sampling because I wanted to be able to bow my bass, and use that as an organic substitute for synths in an electronic pop context. So this was the idea from the beginning. Also, a couple more demos with the crew... or family... but not "quartet"! I avoid saying "string quartet" because that would have two violins and no double bass.

And this is most of the crew, but no viola.

Also, the other family members are on sale for $39 each until the end of April. That's, again, April 2021, in case somebody bumps this thread in five years or something...

A "string quartet" has no double bass because it did not physically exist in the eighteenth century when Haydn developed that form.

And a 'vengeful string quartet' with bass has no repertoire since then, because no composer got out of that rut until recently.

AFAIK, there are only two contemporary compositions:

Thus, these Vengeful demos may actually constitute the largest quartet repertoire of its kind in history.

Historically, the trout quintet does have a double bass. Now there's a fun name. But, yeah, I just don't want to give people the idea that there's a second violin and they can do Beethoven's quartets.

"string tetrad" :-)

Ha. Think Roman. String cohort, string century, string legion. Maybe even a string consular army with 40000 men.

Last couple of days of intro price, May 1 it goes up to $59, for the "you deserve full price" squad who have been waiting patiently.

Also all the other stuff we have on sale goes to full price May 1, next storewide-ish sale will not be before October.

And just casuse, here's an album made entirely with Vengeful strings and Orcophony.

Quite sophisticated and composerly, and not just by orcish standards.
