Has Soundcloud ever flagged up your song for copyright?

A while back, Soundcloud flagged one of my songs "Watermelon" for copyright reasons. They said that their software believes that my song contains somebody else's copyrighted material. They told which song they suspected my song breaches copyright of. They said i could appeal the decision, but when i followed the route to appeal the decision, the small print said that i have to consent to the jurisdiction of a German court, so i decided not to bother.
That was about more than a year ago. I tested my song "Watermelon" recently uploading a recent remastered version of "Watermelon" and this time it went through fine and didn't flag as a suspected copyright breach.
Has anything like this ever happened to you on Soundcloud? or other? (tell us your copyright stories if you wish)

nothing against loops but...
have these tracks used any purchased loops?
if so, it will be the algorithm picking that up as a false positive.
happens a lot to people on pootube.

Yeah the new song is entirely made of purchased samples. I've disputed the new song, because i had sent a message to a label (a bit embarassing).vurt wrote: Fri Apr 09, 2021 11:30 am nothing against loops but...

Yes i understood it's a false positive.

will probably happen a lot as algorithms are trained up.

Soundcloud once flagged a song of mine for violating my own copyright.

Yes, this exact thing happened to me once. Their AI thought one of tracks I had upoladed was someone else's track
That was my track
https://soundcloud.com/recursion-loop/silent-universe-1
and this was the other track
(in response to Vurt's comment, there is no loops whatsoever in my track, everything made form scratch)
I did use that "appeal" route to explain them the situation and they reinstated my track in a couple of hours.

Yes. That "non-exclusive use" clause, will come back to bite a lot of loop users who don't modify them extensively.vurt wrote: Fri Apr 09, 2021 11:30 am nothing against loops but...

I'm not a musician, but I've designed sounds that others use to make music. http://soundcloud.com/obsidiananvil

I can understand why the algorithms have a hard time with Psytrance though.recursive one wrote: Fri Apr 09, 2021 11:39 am Yes, this exact thing happened to me once. Their AI thought one of tracks I had upoladed was someone else's track

Nice track, BTW, once again. Earth shattering bass.

Yep, I took that as a sign that I've successfully nailed the "industry standard" psytrance basschk071 wrote: Fri Apr 09, 2021 11:41 am I can understand why the algorithms have a hard time with Psytrance though.![]()

yeah i think some genres, with tighter "rules" will mess with an algorithm at firstrecursive one wrote: Fri Apr 09, 2021 11:52 amYep, I took that as a sign that I've successfully nailed the "industry standard" psytrance basschk071 wrote: Fri Apr 09, 2021 11:41 am I can understand why the algorithms have a hard time with Psytrance though.![]()

Thanks!
over time, they should in theory get better, im not the expert there.
and yes, theyre usually sorted once you report it, as then humans will have a listen.
at worst, you may have to present a working file of stems, to show its original work. but that will be very rare situations when you and another guy create similar tracks by pure chance!

No but I was immediately hit up with spam after the last few uploads. Someone liking my song then sending a message offering to master my tracks & get me more hits for a fee. Then a cam girl that liked my track faster than a human would be able to listen to it then offered me a hot cam sesh for a fee
