Hey guys,

I just bought an ADJ PC-100A Power switch so I could plug my monitors into them for the ease of turning them on/off, but I've run into a problem. I can turn them on just fine, but if I turn them off, all the audio just dies completely. The only solution has been a restart, but that takes forever and it's driving me mad.

I have the speakers (Mackie CR3s) plugged into a Focsurite Solo 3rd gen that is then going into a USB hub, into my computer.

I would greatly appreciate any help more experienced producers can offer.

I have a similar setup with a rack mounted power switch. I am not quite sure if I understand your problem. What do you mean by "audio just dies completely"? Does the Focusrite driver stop working when you switch off the monitors?

Yeah that’s pretty confusing. I wonder how powering off the speakers would affect the pc.

Are you seeing any glitch on the pc? Could be the USB hub. Can you temp try it with that audio interface direct connect to the pc?

Hey all, thanks for the replies.
I don't see anything wrong on the PC. The "Focusrite USB Audio" is still my selected device, so I assume the drivers aren't the problem. I've tried updating the drivers via the Device Manager but it doesn't help.
I'm using the USB hub because the chord that came with the interface isn't long enough to get from the left side of my desk all the way to my Rack Mounted PC on the right. It's odd that the first few days everything worked as intended, but it only became a problem today.

couple of questions might help here, because it sounds like the two are talking to each other.

1: are the mackies usb powered?

2: are the mackies digital?

3: is your windows relatively up to date? like recent?

4: i'm thinking something along the lines of you have your mackies both externally powered and usb powered at the same time? could this be the case?

What's difficult about using the power switches on the monitors?

The Mackies are not USB powered, I have them connected to my interface via 1/4" speaker cable. They are pretty cheap though, so maybe they are digital? They're both connected via speaker wire instead of each having their own power chord.
I finished my PC build last month so I know I've got the latest Windows.
I just bought a longer USB C to USB C cable so I can try connecting my interface directly to my computer, eliminating the USB hub as a variable.
